About this listen

Eyre on Air is a period drama podcast...mostly. Every two weeks, Jenn, Joe, and Kelsey watch and review a movie or television show set in the past, make incredibly inane and inappropriate jokes, and try to give you as much historical background information as their collective degrees and internet sleuthing will allow. If you've got a boner for obscure facts about royals and get annoyed that there aren't enough POC in your period dramas, then we're the podcast for you! Art

  • See How They Run
    Feb 3 2023

It's 2023! Good god. And Kelsey and Jenn are back with a meta murder mystery that is maybe too smart for it's own good. 2022's See How They Run is up for discussion, starring Saoirse Ronan, Sam Rockwell, Adrian Brody, Ruth Wilson, and everyone's favorite British actress, Shirley Henderson. And it's...okay? It's definitely not as good as Glass Onion, which is not a period drama but is certainly something that you should not watch right before watching See How They Run. Which is what both Jenn and Kelsey did and now have been spoiled with something fantastic right before something mediocre. Bah.

  • Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
    Dec 14 2022

Welcome back to another episode of Eyre on Air: The Texas Edition, where everything is Dolly Parton and nothing matters! This week, we acidentally did 1982's musical adaptation of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, starring Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton. And friends, these hoes can really hoedown! It's an 80's country musical about minding your damn business and staying in your lane. So let's all just sit back and enjoy Dolly's many magnificent costume changes.

  • People & Events From History that Should Have Movies (But They Don't)
    Nov 14 2022

Welcome to Eyre on Air: The Texas Edition! We're back baby! Literally, with a baby. Another one. Oh and Joe isn't here. So you're stuck with Jenn and Kelsey as them ruminate on people, places, and things from history that should have film adaptations but they DON'T. Well, most of them anyway. This episode will help you out at pub trivia but will definitely not recap a film!

I would love to find a podcast that deals in the facts. This particular movie is an adaptation. The review should be about the authenticity of the costumes for the time period, and how well the story rings true to either the history of the piece or the accuracy of telling the fictional story. I am a HUGE Dicken's fan, and this movie is actually one of the closest adaptations of this novel I've come by, and the costumes are quite accurate as well. It's sad that these items are not well mentioned. It was very well noted that one of the Podcasters HATES Dickens. I love the idea of this podcast. However, the language is regularly crude, and the sound quality is rough.

The Idea of this is good, but content is lacking.
