  • Summary

  • In honor of Martin Luther King Day, we are again shining the spotlight on the remarkable life of Fannie Lou Hamer. As a small child, her hard labor was key to her family’s survival. She grew up to become a fiery civil rights activist who would not be silenced by intimidation, violence, or the personal wishes of the President of the United States himself. so much opining

it is unfortunate that these stories are told with so much side commentary and opining. the regular you, yuck, gross, commentary distracts from the facts of the history they wish to tell us. I'd like the opportunity to form my own opinions about the information and to decide how I feel about the actions of those involved by applying my understanding of the cultural norms of the time and then be able for myself to contrast those against where we have made progress or simply changed our culture up to today.
