Today we take on some of the questions we get from parents. How can you give room freedom if your teenager shares that room with a sibling? What can parents do about making sure their adolescent is eating well? Also, Jessica accidentally hits a nerve with Dr. Ken by asking about what sources parents use to get parenting advice. • Episode 214: How To Overcome Isolation
    May 13 2025
Today, Dr. Ken interviews Jessica who tells her own story of being proactive in overcoming the trend toward isolation that pervades our culture. Parents can't just set up "play dates" for their teenagers, they must themselves have a grounded group of friends who they share their lives with. What role does extended family play in these essential relationships? What about just being friends with the parents of your kids friends? We discuss these and other aspects of pushing back against an increasingly individualized culture. If you have a minute, please leave us a review. Love that this podcast addresses so many issues we face as parents to teenagers. It’s a fantastic accompaniment to the book of the same name.

Amazing parenting advice and help!

Our only child will be starting middle school next year & I’m listening almost every day (starting from the beginning) to get some good advice before we head into the teen years. I’m getting lots of great tips & now I want the book!

Great parenting advice for today’s teens

Topics are relevant to what I am needing guidance on. Finally, I found parental advice specific to the adolence age from a Christian perspective but yet practical to this day and age.

Much needed guidance!

the book and podcast has guided our parenting towards planned emancipation. the podcast is well done and so full of practical nuggets of wisdom. from a Christian perspective, but much of the advice would apply to secular parents as well.

great expanded material to the book

they spoke about how you should talk about tattoos and piercings with your kids, but they never said what you should talk about. should you tell them it's right or should you tell them it's wrong? all they discussed was when you should let them do the tattoo or piercing. why would that matter?

not biblical
