Can we agree that everything Jesus did on the earth was for our sake, for our benefit? God so loved the world He sent His Son—for the world’s sake, to benefit the world. Psalm 103:2 says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits…” (all that Jesus did for our sake).

However, there are times when life’s experiences don’t seem to be for our benefit. How should we respond? In John 11, we find Jesus’ response to the news that His friend, Lazerus, was sick. Jesus spoke words of faith in times of trouble, “Lazarus’ sickness will not end in death.”

Romans 4:17 explains Jesus’ declaration of faith as follows, “…God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did…” Romans 4:17 NKJV. Faith calls things that don’t exist as though they do exist! Faith speaks the promise of God in the midst of trouble.

Jesus wants us to remember His benefits—salvation includes forgiveness of sin, healing, protection, peace, provision and more. Jesus’ example of faith teaches us how to use His faith to receive the benefits that He has provided!
