  • Day 1 - Gentle and Lowly in Heart
    Mar 31 2020
The posture most natural to Jesus is not a pointed finger but open arms. "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” —Matthew 11:28–30 (ESV) Dane Ortlund is the author of Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers. • Day 2 - The Touch of Compassion
    Apr 1 2020
What was Jesus's first impulse when he saw unclean sinners? He touched them . . . and the sinner became clean. "And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd." —Matthew 9:35–36 (ESV) Dane Ortlund is the author of Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers. I enjoyed Ortlund's take on what were what he considers to be the brief essential key points in the book. Not like cliff notes, but a nice summary and reinforcement of the books core message.
