In this episode, I was lucky enough to sit down with Kevin Ryan, Director of Employee Benefits at Principal, and we talked about the importance of employer-provided income protection.
"I have it at work" is one of the most common responses of individuals when asked about their income replacement strategy in the case of an injury or illness preventing them from earning an income. While this response is valid, the level of income protection that some people think they have may not be. Kevin and I go over the most common items that are overlooked when creating a base protection plan with Group Insurance, and how a supplemental offering of Individual coverage over the top is a sound strategy for those who may "outgrow" the base-level protection of Group.
