Jason and Kirk discuss the start of a new college football season. The excitement around the new season can be seen by the impressive television numbers Florida State v Georgia Tech received as well as the record-setting TV number during the MEAC-SWAC challenge which saw FAMU defeat Norfolk State in a very close and exciting game in front of 1.3 million viewers on ABC. Kirk takes a moment to acknowledge Lt. Col. John Mosley, who will have his number 14, retired through all sports by Colorado State University. Lt. Col. Mosley's accolades include flying for the Army Air Corps and becoming one of the first African American bomber pilots in US history. The former football and wrestling star at CSU became a spokesperson for black athletes and the Tuskegee Airmen during retirement. Lt. Col. Mosley passed away in 2015 at the age of 93.

Headlining the event is the historic WBC Super Featherweight Championship bout, “Hit Like a Girl, Fight Like a Champion,” featuring reigning champion Alycia Baumgardner defending her title against Delfine Persoon, a seasoned fighter from Belgium. Event production company Global Combat Collective, Baumgardner Promotions, BrinxTV, and Fubo Sports are collaborating to bring this significant boxing event to a broad audience for free, marking a milestone in sports broadcasting. Baumgardner, the undisputed female super featherweight champion of the world, is not only ready to defend her title, but she’s also ready to fight for the rights of female athletes all over the globe.
