Creating supplements that really work ~ Seed and Soul

Deborah Maguire, along with her business partner Katie Hemming, both have a background in agriculture and have a sustainable ethos, with a passion for ethical, organic, fair trade products that are good for the planet and their clients.

They have a salon in the Cotswolds, and whilst Katie specialises in hair extensions, Deborah decided to train in trichology, and began to take an interest in nutrition, as she came to realise how important it can be for hair health.

They then decided to create their own supplement which aligned with their values. This meant that it has no fillers or unnecessary ingredients, and is made in England by a pharmaceutically accredited company.

We talk about how important it is to have the right ingredients, in the right levels, to ensure that the supplement is effective, as Deborah states, all the systems in the body need to work in harmony for optimum hair health, like an orchestra.

Deborah shares how important transparency is, and that how the product works and all the key ingredients are readily available for anyone to view before they even make a purchase. She describes the benefits of these ingredients and the amazing things they can do!

  • Miniaturisation of the hair follicles ~ Can this be reversed?
    Oct 28 2024

Miniaturisation of the hair follicles ~ Can this be reversed?

Sergio Cardona is a second generation Trichologist, following in the footsteps of his Father, who he worked alongside as well as being his mentor.

We discuss hair miniaturisation, how it happens, how to recognise it, and whether the process is reversible, along with the differences between telogen effluvium and androgenic alopecia.

Sergio shares how hair shedding can have an effect on the hair follicle, and the exact point that the hair reduces where it can no longer be reversed. He also shares how telogen effluvium may show signs of hair miniaturisation but that it doesnt compromise the hair follicle in the same way that genetic hair loss might.

He describes how to detect why the hair is thinning and what is causing it, along with the importance of creating a specific time line.

  • Is there inequality when it come to treating hairloss?
    Sep 23 2024

Is there inequality when it come to treating hairloss?

Dr Rex is from Arizona. He grew up in Nigeria and returned to the US at 18, where he studied medicine in New York. After learning that it was rare to find an African American dermatologist, he decided to specialise in this area.
We discuss how important it is to have representation within medicine, and how all practitioners should have a cultural understanding and empathy for their patients' backgrounds, traditions & beliefs.

It was after a mission trip to Ethiopia that he decided to become a Physician so that he could help people in rural underserved communities. He believes that there is an inequality within healthcare, particularly around the socially & economically challenged.

He works hard to encourage the future generation of dermatologists to use their skillset to increase access to dermatology in less desirable localities.
