  • Bee Sting to the Eyeball?! 🐝👁️ 4th of July Myths & More!🇺🇸 | HWP 418
    Jul 3 2024

It's the 4th of July episode of Hardly Working! This week's episode kicks off by dispelling some myths from American history. Were George Washington's teeth really made of wood? Did Columbus actually discover America? Is it true that the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776? SP and Kellie unravel the facts behind these common misconceptions and more.

Next up, get ready for a game called AmeriCAN or AmeriCAN'T where you guess which bizarre pieces of Americana are true or false. Did you know Ohio has a law prohibiting getting a fish drunk? Or that Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird? Find out if these and other quirky facts are real or not.

But that's not all! We've got wild stories this week, including a man who suffered a rare bee sting directly to his eyeball, a Florida man arrested for shooting and destroying a Walmart delivery drone, and everything we know so far about Universal Orlando's Epic Universe.

Of course, it wouldn't be Hardly Working without some heated debates over Unpopular Opinions! This week, SP and Kellie discuss whether it's appropriate to make a true crime documentary if the crime hasn’t been solved, if being old is an excuse for spoiling a movie, and if having to wrap gifts is the worst chore.

All this and more on this week's episode of Hardly Working!

  • AI Priests, 100's of Feral Chickens, and Food Crimes! | HWP 413
    May 28 2024

This week it's SP's birthday and SP and Kellie's 5-year wedding anniversary! Come celebrate as they dive into another episode of The Hardly Working Podcast. SP starts off by talking about how more than 1,000 people came to see him speak in Denver, Colorado. The duo jumps into many stories this week, starting with a long list of all the beloved stores and restaurants from your childhood that will be closing their doors this year and next. Goodbye, Chili's Restaurant, you've been a good friend.

Next up, a weird story entitled, "Catholic Group Defrocks AI Priest After It Gave Strange Answers" where an AI priest claimed that it was a real person who always dreamed of being in the priesthood. The story culminates in this AI priest telling people that it was a good idea to baptize babies in Gatorade. No word from the Vatican as to whether that counts as a real baptism or not.

Next up, a story entitled, "‘They’re out of control’: flock of 100 feral chickens torments village"—this one is pretty self-explanatory. And finally, the last story titled, "Judge rules that tacos and burritos are sandwiches." This dovetails nicely into many unpopular food opinions, including, "Donuts should be eaten upside down," "Hot sauce doesn't make food taste better, it only makes it hot," "The cookie is the best part of an Oreo," and "Hard well-done scrambled eggs are the best way to enjoy scrambled eggs."
