    Today’s special guest, Dyan Cannon, is a beloved, multi-award-winning actress, director, writer, producer, editor and humanitarian who’s been dazzling audiences, both in front of and behind the camera, in a monumental career spanning almost 7 decades.


    She’s the first woman ever to be nominated for Academy Awards both as an actress and a filmmaker. She received her first Academy Award nomination for her wonderful performance as “Alice” in “Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice”, for which she also received 2 Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical, and Most Promising Female Newcomer. And she won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her second Oscar nomination was in the category of Best Live Action Short for her film, “Number One”, which she wrote, directed, produced, edited and scored. The New York Times commended the film as one of the best movies ever made concerning child development.


    Her third Oscar nomination was for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as “Julia Farnsworth”, opposite Warren Beatty, in “Heaven Can Wait”, for which she WON a Golden Globe Award and a Saturn Award. She received another Golden Globe Best Actress nomination for her performance in “Such Good Friends”. She also wrote, directed and starred in the highly acclaimed and intensely personal film, “The End of Innocence”, and she’s appeared in many other great movies including “Revenge of the Pink Panther”, “The Anderson Tapes”, “The Love Machine”, “The Last of Sheila”, “Honeysuckle Rose”, “Deathtrap”, “Author! Author!”, “Caddyshack 2”, “Out to Sea”, “Boynton Beach Club” and many more. On television, we all remember her as the intelligent and classy “Whipper Cone” on the hit TV show, “Ally McBeal”, and as the vivacious and free-spirited “Honey Bernstein-Flynn” on the popular sitcom, “Three Sisters”. She’s also guest starred in dozens of classic TV shows including “Have Gun, Will Travel”, “The Untouchables”, “77 Sunset Strip”, “Gunsmoke”, “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In”, “Beverly Hills, 90210”, “Diagnosis Murder” and many more.     In 2011, our guest released her riveting and highly compelling, best-selling memoir, “Dear Cary”, which chronicled her incredibly intense and turbulent relationship with her husband, Cary Grant. The book was so tremendously successful, that it was on the New York Times best seller list THREE different times over a period of 4 years.


    And in 2023, our guest was the executive producer of the highly acclaimed miniseries about Cary Grant called “Archie”.


    She also has a podcast called “God’s Table”. And if all of that weren’t enough, our guest is renowned for her humanitarianism, especially in the areas of child welfare, as national spokesperson for the Hemangioma Treatment Foundation, and for Operation Lookout, which is dedicated to finding kidnapped children. And she’s worked with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, as well as many other organizations advocating for animal welfare, substance abuse rehabilitation, and California's Special Olympics for physically and mentally challenged athletes.

    Today’s guest, Rodney Allen Rippy, is an actor, producer, TV personality, radio host, business man and humanitarian who first captured our hearts at the tender age of 3 years old. His over-the-top cuteness, infectious giggle and precocious personality made him an overnight sensation when he became the national spokesperson the popular fast food chain, Jack-in-the-Box.


    He was one of the biggest child stars of the 70s and appeared on many iconic TV shows including “Laugh-In”, “The Six Million Dollar Man”, “Marcus Welby”, “Police Story”, and he had a co-starring role on the Saturday morning children’s show, “The Harlem Globetrotters Popcorn Machine”. And when he guest starred on “The Odd Couple”, HE was the one who first used the phrase, “You’re fired.”


    He also appeared in classic movies like “Blazing Saddles” and “Oh God, Book 2”. As a child, our guest had his own talking doll made by MATTEL, AND he was also a recording artist. In fact, his 1973 hit song “Take Life a Little Easier”, recorded when he was only 5 years old, made him the youngest music artist in history to have a song on the Billboard Charts, a record which STILL has not been surpassed.


    As an adult, our guest has appeared in movies like “Checking the Gate”, “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star”, “Flowers in the Snow” and “To the Top”, and on TV, you’ve seen him in “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose”, “Howie Goes to Hollywood” and “The Mis-adventures of Camp Elaine”. He’s also had a successful career in radio broadcasting.

    He also spent 17 years as a highly successful composer for television and film, writing scores for major motion pictures like “Hanoi Hilton”, “Fast Company”, “Spring Fever”, “The Fall”, “Friday the 13th: The New Blood AND Jason Takes Manhattan”, as well as for the “Friday the 13th” TV series and many other hit TV shows including “Beverly Hills 90210”, “Hard Copy”, “Outer Limits” and “My Secret Identity”.


    He also composed the music scores for dozens of TV movies including “Amy Fisher: My Story”, “Little Criminals”, “White Lies” and “Daydream Believer: The Monkees Story”, on which he also served as music director.     She directed and choreographed “The Merry Widow” for the Metropolitan Opera debut. For the New York City Ballet, she created “Double Feature”, a full-length ballet highlighting the music of Irving Berlin and Walter Donaldson, and she also created “For the Love of Duke”, featuring the music of Duke Ellington.


    She won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Classical Music Dance Program for the TV production of “Contact”, and she received an Emmy Award nomination for Liza Minnelli’s TV special, “Liza – Live from Radio City Music Hall”. And for her work in the feature film, “Center Stage”, she received the American Choreography Award.


    And her latest Broadway musical is SMASH, which opened in April and has been getting rave reviews. The show, which is inspired by the hit TV series of the same name, is a terrific musical comedy about all the backstage pandemonium as opening night approaches for a splashy new show about Marilyn Monroe called “Bombshell”.


    In addition to her 5 Tony Awards, our guest has received 11 more Tony Award nominations, and she’s won a Helen Hayes Award, a Commonwealth Award, 2 Laurence Olivier Awards, 6 Drama Desk Awards, 13 Outer Critics Circle Awards, 2 Lucille Lortel Awards, 6 Fred Astaire Awards, and 3 Lifetime Achievement Awards including the George Abbott Award and the Oscar Hammerstein Award. And in 2014, she was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame. And I just have to mention that in 2001, our guest was named Woman of the Year by Glamour Magazine.
