  • Kingston Penitentiary
    Nov 11 2024
From 1835 and up until 2013, it housed some of the most dangerous criminals in Canadian history, but now it's deserted. As you walk through the metal gates, nervous laughter ripples through you. Footsteps echo through the hallway and rooms, which still have graffiti on the walls. The vaulted heart of the prison has a brick-laid ceiling which is truly remarkable. A central dome connects four cell block buildings. If the walls of the Kingston Penitentiary could talk; they would tell you of these notorious criminals and share with you the eerie history of murders, and violent riots. They would also tell you of the many spectral being still trapped inside. Introductory Episode is Promising!

I've only listened to the introduction of this podcast, as it's brand new and that is currently the only episode available, but already this is so much better than many other ghost story podcasts I've tried! The quality is very good, the host doesn't meander around in small talk, and the presentation doesn't resemble a sixth grade book report! I can't really judge the material yet, of course, which is the only reason I gave the content only four stars, but this far I have very high hopes for Haunted Canada! With sound effects and music, good recording quality, interesting subject matter, and an engaging broadcasting style, this promises to be a gem among ghost and true crime podcasts! I look forward to listening to more!

I like that the stories are true, and happened nearby.

I was eagerly anticipating this series, because I love ghost stories and these happened not too far from where I live. The storytelling is not too lively, though, and I found myself struggling to get through them. I would, possibly, tune in again for the subject matter, but I’m not sure how soon…
