Hello and welcome to the very first episode of Healthy Futures After GDM! I'm absolutely thrilled you've joined me today.

My name is Jaimee, and I'm speaking to you as someone who truly understands the daily reality of living with diabetes. As a person with type 1 diabetes, I know firsthand the challenges, the victories, and everything in between that comes with managing this condition. This personal experience, combined with my professional expertise as a credentialled diabetes educator here in Australia, gives me a unique perspective that I'm excited to share with you.

If you've had gestational diabetes, you're not alone in wondering what comes next. My sister has navigated GDM very recently twice now. The statistics can feel overwhelming – we know that having GDM significantly increases your risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life, and it also raises the risk for your children. But here's what I want you to know: knowledge is power, and there are real, practical steps we can take to change these outcomes.

What sets my approach apart is my experience and focus on use of continuous glucose monitoring – or CGM technology. These incredible devices have changed how we can understand and manage blood sugar patterns, not just for people already living with diabetes, but as a powerful prevention tool. I'll be sharing how CGM can give you insights into your body that traditional testing simply can't provide.

My mission is simple: to help women who've experienced gestational diabetes – and their families – delay, or ideally, prevent the progression to type 2 diabetes. Together, we'll explore evidence-based strategies, hear inspiring success stories, and build a supportive community where you never have to navigate this journey alone.

Speaking of community, I'd love to invite you to join our private Facebook group, where we continue these conversations, share resources, and support each other between episodes. You'll find the link below:
