About this listen

The title of our podcast is pretty straightforward. We are looking to hear God in Scripture. We believe proper hermeneutics is rare, that is, the ability to properly read the Bible is not commonly known or practiced. We believers are commanded to know and study the Scriptures. We should also study to properly understand what they say. These Scriptures are God’s words to us. God spoke to us. Now we need to read them right. Not only did God speak, He still speaks. We shouldn’t just read the Scripture to pull it apart and examine it, we should be listening to God, listening for His voice as we read the text. Our hermeneutic is, “the Text is the Master”. We submit to the text. We do not have the right to twist it around to make it say what we want it to say. Rather, we discover what God is saying to us through His Word. Then we submit to whatever He says. So, hear God in the Scriptures. That is what we are trying to do and we invite you to do this with us.© 2025 Austin and Joel Christianity Ministry & Evangelism Spirituality

  • 25: The Power of Obedience (Acts 16:25-34)
    May 12 2025

Paul and Silas didn’t just believe in Jesus—they lived like it. Thrown into prison for preaching the gospel, they sang Psalms and praised God through the night. When an earthquake miraculously opened the prison doors, they didn’t run—they stayed, saving the jailer and leading his entire family to Christ. This powerful moment in Acts 16 shows how radical faith, worship, and obedience can change lives. In the darkest place, Paul and Silas chose to glorify God and walk in purpose. What if your prison is your platform? Watch this video to see how God moves when we listen, obey, and worship in the midst of trials. Be inspired to live boldly for Jesus—no matter the cost.

  • 24: The Lord Opened Her Heart (Acts 16:14)
    May 5 2025

In Acts 16:14, we meet Lydia—a successful businesswoman and the first recorded Christ-follower in Europe. But what led to her transformation? It wasn’t her good character or accomplishments that saved her. While Lydia was a worshiper of God and a woman of integrity, Scripture clearly shows that it was the Lord who opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. Our role is simply to respond with faith and obedience when He calls. In this episode, we explore Lydia’s story and what it teaches us about God’s grace, the mystery of divine initiative, and how we can stay responsive to His voice in our own lives. Join us as we unpack this beautiful example of God reaching hearts across cultures and continents.

    Acts 16:14
14 One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul.

  • 23: A Spring of Water Welling Up to Eternal Life (John 4:13-14)
    Apr 28 2025

In John 4:13-14, Jesus speaks truth to the Samaritan woman at the well: “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give will never thirst.” He offers something far greater than physical water—He offers a divine gift. Unlike the temporary satisfaction the world offers, Jesus gives us a spring of living water that never runs dry.

In this episode, we explore the meaning behind Jesus' words and how they reveal the greater gift He brings, greater than the gift of the well that Jacob brought, and greater than all the other gifts the world around us can offer. Jesus offers an artisan well, one that is overflowing—Jesus is the source of true fulfillment.
