About this listen

You’ve been treated for anxiety—but something still doesn’t feel right.

You’re exhausted. Mentally, emotionally, maybe even physically. You overthink everything. You care deeply. You try so hard to be good, kind, helpful—while quietly unraveling inside.

Hosted by psychologist Lauren Schaefer, Hidden in Plain Sight explores the missing link in so many women’s stories: undiagnosed neurodivergence.

ADHD. Autism. OCD. Sensory Overwhelm. People-pleasing. Shame. Chronic burnout. Perfectionism.

This is a podcast for the women who’ve been called too sensitive, too anxious, too intense, or too much—when really, they’ve just been misunderstood.

If you’ve ever felt like anxiety was just the tip of the iceberg… you’re not broken. You’re just hidden in plain sight. And you’ve found a safe refuge to understand yourself and find acceptance and relief.

  • Facing the Storm – The Buffalo Metaphor for Moving Through Discomfort
    May 10 2025

In this guided mindfulness meditation, we draw inspiration from the buffalo—an animal known for its bold choice to run toward storms rather than away from them. This metaphor becomes a powerful lens for exploring how we relate to emotional discomfort, fear, and avoidance in our own lives.

You’ll be gently guided to ground your body, name the “storm” you may be avoiding, and visualize yourself stepping into it with the strength and wisdom of the buffalo. Through breath, imagery, and self-compassion, you’ll practice moving through discomfort rather than around it—emerging with greater clarity, calm, and resilience.

This practice is a soft place to land when life feels heavy—and a reminder that you have what it takes to face what’s hard and come out stronger on the other side.
