Back in the village, Cassie’s encounters of the previous night bring her face to face with an enraged local, who believes she’s a dark agent of a global conspiracy. Glen is determined to keep Cassie away from the evidence she stumbles across, but Cassie has other ideas. Meanwhile, the creatures Glen and Cassie encountered hatch a plan and Amanda embarks on a trip with a passenger who is not what she seems.

Cassie and Glen try to contain the fallout of their argument – with further arguments. Unsurprisingly, this plan proves less than effective and something terrifying gains a foothold in our world. About the Creator

Writer and creator Will Maclean is a multi-talented BAFTA—and International Emmy-winning writer working in TV, audio and film. He has written for many of the strongest voices in UK comedy including Tracey Ullman, Peter Serafinowicz and Russell Howard. He’s worked on many children’s and animation shows including, for Aardman, Shaun the Sheep, with one of his episodes among the selection winning a Children’s BAFTA and an International Emmy. Will’s 2016 short film, The Pitch (co-written with Marc Haynes) starring Justin Edwards ( The Thick Of It) and Richard Glover ( The Casual Vacancy) played at festivals worldwide, winning two awards at the New York Film Festival. Will’s first novel, The Apparition Phase, a ghost story, is published in October 2020 (on Kindle in the US). Like his character, Cassie, Will has extensive knowledge of the paranormal. He once saw a UFO at the tender age of 16 but, despite his best efforts, was not abducted.

About the Performer

Sophie McShera, who stars as Cassie, rose to fame as Daisy, the much-loved kitchen maid in long-running, multi-Emmy-winning ITV & Masterpiece series Downton Abbey, which went on to become a hit movie in 2019. Her natural talent for comedy shone as ugly sister, Drisella in Disney’s Cinderella, directed by Kenneth Branagh and in Armando Iannucci’s The Personal History of David Copperfield. Those movie roles have built on stand-out comedy turns in ITV2’s The Job Lot and Timewasters, the BBC’s Inside No 9 and Galavant for ABC. In the theatre, Sophie’s many roles include Jez Butterworth’s seminal play, Jerusalem; and not forgetting where it all began, as a teenager she starred as Annie in London’s West End.

About the Performer

Adam James is possibly best known as Neil, Suranne Jones’s friend and neighbour, in both series of the super-successful BBC1 thriller, Doctor Foster. Since then he’s appeared with Michaela Coel in I May Destroy You (BBC & HBO), as another government agent in Deep State II (Fox) and starred in Julian Fellowes’s new period drama, Belgravia (ITV). Versatile as ever, in the world of comedy, Adam worked with High Strangeness director, Paul Murphy and Johnny Vegas on the BBC1 sitcom Home from Home. Adam is a prolific theater performer, appearing in, amongst many others, Conor McPherson’s Girl From The North Country and regularly in Mike Bartlett ( Doctor Foster)’s plays, including King Charles III on Broadway.

About the Performer

Anna is a legend of British comedy movies, since starring as Duckface, Hugh Grant’s jilted bride in Four Weddings And A Funeral. Alongside her comedy ( Mapp & Lucia, A Touch of Cloth, Pramface, Inside No 9) she has played a string of formidable, complex, determined women from the murdered matriarch in Agatha Christie’s Ordeal by Innocence to maverick journalist, Lix Storm in The Hour (with Ben Whishaw and Romola Garai) for which she was BAFTA nominated. In 2018 Anna starred opposite Donald Sutherland as his JP Getty Snr’s mistress, in Trust, Danny Boyle’s series about the Getty kidnapping for FX. More recently, Anna has made multiple regular appearances in adventure and genre shows ranging from DC’s Pennyworth, to The Watch (BBC) and Penny Dreadful (Sky).

A Fun Ride Into High Strangeness

This was a fun romp with two groups of paranormal investigators who became involved in an alien invasion while a secret government agency tries to get things under control and save the universe. Fantastic cast. Very funny and heartwarming as well. Left open for further adventures which I hope they do. Cassie and Glen belong together. Loved this and hope Audible does more of them. Excellent production and great music too.

Classic British humor

The quickness if the wit is very Dr Who and Beyond the Fringe. Beautifully portrayed, lots of fun.

Loved it ×20

This was an exceptional listen. The voice acting was spot on and the story was compelling enough that I started it tonight at work and ended up finishing it by the time I left. I really hope to hear more of their adventures in the future.
