  • LGBTQ Rulers of the World
    Jun 17 2025
Sexuality and gender politics have differed from culture to culture and age to age throughout history. The concept of homosexuality as an identity only emerged in the 20th century. Prior to that gay and lesbian relationships and activities were commonplace but were thought of as something one did rather than part of one’s identity. There have been many historic figures who are noted to have preferred their own gender for romance and sex. Here are the stories of 5 rulers from ancient to modern times who are known to have had homosexual love affairs: Alexander the Great (356 BC – 323 BC) Emperor Ai of Han (27 BC – 1 BC) Caliph Al-Hakam II (915AD-976) King Gongmin of Goryeo (1330 – 1374) Tsar Ferdinand I of Bulgaria (1861 – 1948) Join me every Tuesday when I'm Spilling the Tea on History! I've looked forward to History Tea Time, Tuesdays on YouTube for years. Now I can bring Lindsay Holiday with me on the road, when I'm creating my art and when I can't quite get to sleep. I love the narrator's (Lindsay's) voice, her sarcastic sense of humor, and unique topics. She packs a lot of info in 30ish minutes, with no extra chitty chat. I highly recommend this podcast!

Presentation seems like a long run on sentence. Pause between periods at the end of a sentence please. Hard to listen with out frequent rewinding.

Good content, not so good presentation

The stories are interesting but the speaker’s voice inflection at the end of sentences sounds like a news reporter. I can only tolerate it for so long.

Great stories but…
