How Trump and US Colonialism Threaten Puerto Ricans

  • Summary

  • In this episode we dive into the ways a future Donald J. Trump's presidency could be in detriment of the Puerto Rican community in the diaspora and in Puerto Rico. We discuss the problematic racism of Donald Trump but also democrats passivity regards to solving Puerto Rico's status and in discussing meaningful policy that promotes self sufficiency for Puerto Ricans. We discuss how there are other forms of political status besides statehood supported by Puerto Ricans such as Sovereignty and Independence and the policies that should be taken into consideration if they really want to support Puerto Ricans. For this conversation, we have the 2nd Vice-Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party, Mayra Rivera Vazquez and the 6th Ward Alderwoman, Daniela Velazquez from St Louis. This episode was a collaboration with Boricuas Unidos en la Diaspora.
