About this listen

The Murdaugh family was one of South Carolina's most powerful legal families. Three generations of Murdaughs held the position of solicitor in the lowcountry for almost one hundred years. In February of 2019 a boat crash killed 19 year old Mallory Beach. Paul Murdaugh, the son of prominent SC attorney, Alex Murdaugh, was charged with three felony counts of boating under the influence, including causing the death of Mallory Beach. June 7, 2021 Alex Murdaugh found his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, brutally murdered, shot to death on their property known as Moselle. On March 2, 2023 Alex was convicted of murdering Maggie and Paul. Between the murders and the convictions many other crimes came to light. No one could have expected the twists and turns the story has taken and it is not finished. Seton Tucker and Matt Harris started the Impact of Influence podcast soon after the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh. You may have seen them talking about the Murdaugh saga on CourtTV, Murdaugh documentaries on Oxygen and Fox Nation and episodes on American Greed and Nancy Grace. Seton and Matt continue updating the Murdaugh story and are now covering other crimes that have occurred throughout the Southeast. Impact of Influence is now a Youtube channel You can find them on their Impact of Influence FB page or Mattharrispodcast@gmail.comEvergreen Podcasts 2023 True Crime

  • Colucci Retrial: Case Dismissed for Now
    Jun 23 2025
Michael Colucci, a Summerville, South Carolina jeweler, was once again on trial for the death of his wife, seven years after his initial trial ended in a mistrial. Michael Colucci is accused of killing his wife, Sara Lynn Colucci, in May 2015. During his first trial in 2018, prosecutors alleged that Michael strangled Sara. His defense argued that she died by suicide, claiming she hanged herself with a garden hose on a nearby fence while Michael was sitting in their car just 25 feet away. Just moments before Colucci's trial was set to begin, Judge Roger Young ruled in favor of the defense motion to dismiss the case. Seton tucker was there for the shocking decision. We discuss the ruling with her father, Matt Siembieda. Matt Siembieda is an attorney, graduate of Penn Law School and a law professor at Temple Law School. Seton Tucker and Matt Harris began the Impact of Influence podcast shortly after the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh. If you’d rather hear canned presentations from the traveling band of pundits who chase the latest headline, this is not for you. But, if you want fresh information from people who know the facts, the history, the ramifications of in-court and out of court decisions and the reverberation in the lives of the people left to put their lives together after the case is decided and the famous people have flown off to find the next courthouse lawn, this podcast is for you.

This is one of the most bizarre stories I've ever listened to. I love it!

I really am enjoying this podcast. Every time I listen, it gets better. They interview experts in various fields: from a local historian to a legal analyst, an expert on FOIA, and a local reporter who was first on the scene of the murders. It's educational and informative, and, most importantly, factual. I enjoy the conversational format as well; makes for easy listening, like being a guest at a dinner party with well-informed guests discussing the local Murdaugh saga.

No depth or analysis of the issues in this case. Occasionally a guest will offer good insight. Hosts not so much. Compared to other Murdaugh Murder podcast this is very lacking. Still listen to see if I’ve missed any news but don’t enjoy as much.

No Depth

Enjoyed your balanced coverage and discussions. Had to delete another podcast that was horribly skewed and cringy. Thank you!

Balanced!

but this one is a step above because it seems more objective than some of the others. No doubt that might irritate some, but for those of us who appreciate fact sharing and not dramatization, this is a great listen.

I've listened to other Murdaugh Podcasts
