  • 103. Physical Fitness & Life Beyond Addiction with Scott Strode
    Jan 29 2025

In this week’s episode of In The Circle, I’m delighted to speak with Scott Strode. Scott has been sober for over 25 years and is the Executive Director of The Phoenix, a transformational nonprofit he founded in 2006. The Phoenix is reshaping how society views addiction and recovery by harnessing the power of connection to create lasting change.

The Phoenix offers free in-person and virtual programs worldwide, including yoga, climbing, music, CrossFit, art, and dance. The only cost to participate is 48 hours of sobriety. While an activity might draw someone in, Scott emphasizes that it’s the supportive community of sober friendships that keeps them coming back.

Today, we’ll dive into how this spark of hope has helped thousands rise from addiction because the solution to the addiction crisis lives in all of us.

    Tommy Discusses:

    • The role of physical activity in recovery
    • Community is the thing that keeps people on the recovery path
    • Is medication needed in recovery?
    • How can we give back and help someone in need?

  • 102. Empowered Relationships: Life Beyond Codependency with Heather Monroe
    Jan 22 2025

In this week’s episode of In The Circle, I have the pleasure of speaking with Heather Monroe, a transpersonal psychotherapist with a unique approach to healing relational and attachment trauma.

Heather brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, combining multiple therapeutic modalities to help others heal.

She is a certified psychodrama trainer, a certified Kundalini yoga teacher, and a MAPS-certified psychedelic therapist. She is also in the advanced stages of Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing training. These diverse qualifications give her a deep understanding of how trauma is stored in the body and how it can be released through creative, somatic approaches.

Listen to Heather’s insights on trauma, the mind-body connection, and her innovative methods for guiding others toward lasting healing. Whether you’re curious about somatic experiencing, psychodrama, or healing life-long trauma, this conversation offers a wealth of knowledge and inspiration.

    Tommy Discusses:

    • Healing is not a one-size-fits-all approach
    • Flexibility and creativity are essential when addressing trauma
    • The connection between the mind, body, and trauma
    • How to move from codependent to interdependent
