  • Ep 37: Nevermind Reviewed
    Feb 11 2025

    Classic Albums

Our ongoing series classic albums continues.

Kurt Cobain and his monstrous band Nirvana hit the scene like a wreaking ball on fire, leaving a path of destruction and turning Hair Metal Gods into dinosaurs almost overnight. Grunge swept through the music scene and changed the landscape forever.

Nirvana's second album Nevermind entered the world in 1991 and ever since is has arguably been one of the most influential albums never made......... BUT! How does the album hold up now and can it still be enjoyed long after it's first discovery to us? Me and Tom get deep into the swimming pool but is there much worth in the soggy dollar?

The first instalment in the new Classic Albums series.

Fleetwood Mac's 1977 most famous and beloved album Rumours is an example of lightning in a bottle! Affairs and internal warfare, elements that usually destroy bands and result in poor efforts, only drove them to create some of the most influencing rock, blues and country music ever!

But how does this album stand in this modern age? Myself and Tom get into the album and all the drama of the band in this weeks episode!

We're getting our freak on with Korn, stepping into Christmas with Elton John, having a wonderful Christmas time with Paul McCartney, Wombling with the Wombles, being cheeky and chomping sausage rolls with Lad Baby and having a sexy time with Kylie

    0:00 Extreme Metal

We kick off the episode getting into the subject of extreme forms of metal such as black metal and metal. Is this music that is genuinely enjoyed? Or is it the showmanship and being part of the culture that's the main appeal to alternative sub cultures?

    25:19 Music with extreme backgrounds

Moving on to music that's associated with extreme situations and circumstances such as Red Hot Chili Peppers John Frusciante's albums produced during his battles with drugs

    32:45 Second hand embarrassments

Ever gone red in the face when you're playing your favourite band with company and the singer goes off the rails with some unhinged lyric? Ever turn the volume down when a guilty pleasure comes on in the car? I certainly have! We recall some awkward tales and have a look at Morrissey's bizarre lyrical content.

    43:07 Sexually explicit music

Is pop music getting too graphic? Is there a need for further censorship to prevent young audiences being exposed to

songs such as Cardi B's WAP

    52:30 Video Games

And to close And to close us off we reminisce on some great video game soundtracks from original scores like the music from Crash Bandicoot to curated soundtracks from jam packed games like Fifa and GTA

Seven years on from the tragic passing of Chester Bennington and the bands last album One More Light, Linkin Park has returned with a new lead vocalist Emily Armstrong. The Band have jumped right back into action with a new album and world tour, but along with this exciting news comes baggage and drama.

Have the proved the band can progress beyond their past legacy and continue to be alt metal legends? Or this is album dead on arrival? Here's my review of it anyway!
