Judge Aileen Cannon Refuses to Step Off Trump-Related Case of Ryan Routh

  • Summary

  • Judge Aileen Cannon's favoritism and bias in favor of Donald Trump is well-established. And the law provides that even the appearance of bias and favoritism (no actual bias/favoritism is necessary) warrants the removal of a judge from presiding over a case. The defendant charged with plotting a Trump assassination, Ryan Routh, filed a motion to have Cannon recuse herself from his case given that Trump is the victim. In a typically unpersuasive ruling, Cannon refused to leave the case, making it clear that Cannon just can't quit Trump or Trump-related cases.
