Is the Republican Party facing a defining moment, or is this just another chapter in a long history of political evolution? Join the brothers Kabateck as they engage with Jot Condie, President and CEO of the California Restaurant Association, to explore the potential directions the party may take in the post-Trump era. They'll weigh the lasting impact of Donald Trump's influence against the possibility of a return to traditional conservative values championed by figures like Mitt Romney. The discussion also examines the new voter demographics that Trump has energized, questioning their future participation without his polarizing presence.

Turning to pressing economic issues, they tackle the contentious debate surrounding the minimum wage and its broader implications. With inflation and living costs on the rise, the discussion gives consideration as to how wage changes impact both workers and small business owners. Could regional wage adjustments, like those in Oregon, provide a balanced solution that ensures fair wages while maintaining business viability? Taking a look into the complex interplay between political narratives and economic realities, there's emphasis on the need for thoughtful policies that support both low-income workers and small businesses.

Finally, California politics take center stage as the discussion takes a look at the challenges Democrats face, particularly in addressing homelessness and positioning prominent figures like Gavin Newsom for national prominence. How does the Midwest perceive Californian politicians, and what strategies might Democrats adopt given Kamala Harris's influence? The conversation turns to speculate on the potential candidates for the Democratic Party, considering the viability of centrist figures from contested regions. As the presidential election looms, a final look at polling accuracy and potential outcomes could be setting the stage for a season marked by unpredictability and political gridlock.

Brothers John and Brian Kabateck choose their sides as they explore the shifting dynamics of the Republican and Democrat Parties with esteemed guest, Dan Schnur, a respected professor and veteran political strategist. From the astonishing influence Donald Trump continues to wield within the GOP, even in the face of a criminal indictment, to the concerns around Joe Biden's age and mental capacity, the conversation twists and turns like a road on the side of a mountain.
Probing into how progressive voters from the 2020 election might behave in the next election cycle, and the potential impact of immigration, homelessness, and natural disasters on voting decisions are topics with polarizing characteristics that are part of the conversation. And of course, what's the story - and prospects - of a "President Gavin Newsom"?

  • Episode 20: Survival of the California Republican Party with Jessica Patterson

I'll bet you're thinking the fireworks are going to fly between your hosts, Brian and John in this episode. But the opposite is true. Brian gives some very thoughtful insight into why he believes the Republican Party has challenges in the state and even the country. John, of course disagrees and Chairwoman Patterson does a wonderful job of positioning the party for growth in the state. When it comes to strategies, once again, Brian offers some insight as to how the Republican Party has opportunities and has also missed opportunities where the Democrats have failed the people and again, Chairwoman Patterson both agrees and shares the progress and direction the party is attempting to take. If only our elected officials could show as much respect when opinions differ as this discussion does, the polarization of politics and position would be much different.

Great show!

The Kabatalks underlines the current demographic and public stakes: the political and economic strategies for the restoration of America and its inhabitants.

I am pleased to have the opportunity to listen to the the views of Republicans and Democrats, as well as the diversity that prevails; the dialogues of the parties across the way are indeed edifying and entertaining to listen to.
