About this listen
New Zealand’s trying to entice the best and brightest to plug calamitous workforce shortages like we have in nursing
But we’re competing with countries like Australia offering far more welcoming immigration policies and pay.
Migrant nurses here have told us they feel undervalued, and treated like second class citizens because of botched immigration settings.
And according to the Prime Minister, if they can’t put up with the two-year residency wait in New Zealand, they just don’t want it enough.
Immigration advisor Katy Armstrong joins us with the latest.
