  • Summary

  • We could tell you about our show, but in the words of LeVar Burton, "don't take our word for it!" Here is an actual listener's description of the show: "Think Cher Horowitz meets Dolly Parton... create a love child. Then THAT person meets Bill Kurtis.... and two random girls are the product of that.... that's Tyrella and Tori (sisters and hosts). Smart, weird, pretty, blonde, hilarious, southern, and just really okay with being themselves.... even when it is weird. It made me realize [they] became their role models without even meaning to." • 353: Recap of Sarah Boone Trial: Suitcase Killer Who Caught Herself On Video
    Dec 24 2024
UPDATE: She has been sentenced to life in prison since the time of this recording. On the afternoon of Monday, February 24th, 2020, first responders in Winter Park, Florida arrived at an apartment complex to find 42-year-old Jorge Torres Jr. dead inside of the apartment he shared with girlfriend, Sarah Boone. Jorge was unfortunately past the point of being able to be revived and was pronounced dead on scene. Homicide detectives arrived on scene to question Sarah, who told them a strange tale of what happened and how she’d “accidentally” left her boyfriend zipped up inside of a suitcase, then fell asleep. However, detectives soon recovered evidence on Sarah’s own cell phone that proved that Jorge’s death may not have been a tragic accident after all. This episode discusses an overview of the case and recaps the trial which was broadcast live in 2024. *This is a condensed version of a longer video available on our Patreon. • 352: The Busby Family Disappearance
    Dec 17 2024
The Busby family was a typical family living in a sleepy beach community. But in August of 1979, all that came crashing down when John Busby was shot and nearly killed on his way to work as a police officer. While John knew who his assailant was from the instant the trigger was pulled, the man responsible would escape justice because of his connections within their community. • 351- Serial Killer Charlie Brandt: A Family Secret you WON'T Believe
    Dec 10 2024
In September of 2004, Mary Lou Jones called one of her daughter’s friends in Florida, concerned that she had gone several days without hearing from her daughter Michelle. The friend, who also hadn’t heard from Michelle in days, went over to Michelle’s house, and discovered a horrific scene. Michelle and her aunt Teri had been savagely murdered by Teri’s husband, Charlie Brandt. Charlie then took his own life. An investigation into the life of Charlie Brandt shocked detectives as they found that this was not the first murder Charlie had committed, that he could’ve been responsible for over 20 vicious, graphic murders across the state of Florida. An absolute gem!!!!

I adore this podcast and these girls! They are able to walk that fine line of respectfully telling the stories of crime victims while also being entertaining. The flow is more conversational which I enjoy; the vibe is that of hanging out with your friends discussing true crime. They are real, relatable, and funny as hell. 10/10 for sure!!

Hands down my favorite!

Ok so I admit, I have a bit of Podcast A.D.D. I binge for a bit and then almost never go back to it again. Killer Queens is one of the few exceptions to that. I have been listening for over a year now and I’m pretty sure I have listened to every episode including Patreon episodes at least twice.

Anywho, Tori and Tyrella achieve exactly what they set out to do, discuss true crime in a way that feels like a casual conversation with a few friends. I personally am not a fan of shows that are overly scripted, down to the last little gasp of horror.

Despite the witty banter and southern sass these ladies bring, the content is informative and the victims are ALWAYS discussed in a respectful manner.

While this podcast is probably not for everyone, if you like true crime, anything from the 90’s, or listening to people try (and fail) pronouncing names, give this a try, you won’t be disappointed! 💕

LYLAS!

not my cup of tea

The hostess are definitely young and playful, which is not a bad thing just not my cup of tea. It took some time to get to the point of the story and they seemed to get off track a lot.

Meh…

I was recommended this podcast in a fan group for Morbid. One thing I love about Morbid and another female duo true crime podcast, Crime Junkie is that they have a healthy skepticism of police investigations. I couldn’t get through one episode of this podcast without feeling like to these girls, the police can do no wrong. It’s nothing personal, I’m sure they’ve gotten better, but acting as if police have the hardest job in solving these crimes is irritating. They’re paid 6X more than most teachers and deal with half the bullshit. Sometimes they screw up. I think skepticism of police goes hand in hand with being a true crime junkie. They don’t always do their best work. Maybe I’ll give a listen to more recent episodes to update this review in the future.
