Au bout d'un scénario complètement fou, Carlos Verona (Lidl-Trek) remporte la 15e étape du Giro. L'Espagnol de 32 ans s'est extirpé du groupe d'échappés à 44 km de l'arrivée. Florian Stork (Tudor) et Christian Scaroni (XDS Astana) complètent le podium d'un groupe où Romain Bardet (Picnic PostNL) a terminé 4e et Nicolas Prodhomme (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team) a terminé 5e. Au classement général, Issac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates - XRG) conserve son maillot jaune devant Simon Yates (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) et son équipier Juan Ayuso.
