The Lakers started off their latest road trip by renewing their old rivalry against the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden. But things went from bad to worse as the Lakers have officially caught the injury bug with Rui and Jaxson Hayes out, LeBron James fell victim to a groin strain in the second half and not even a Luka Doncic-led (34 points) comeback could overcome the short-handed Lakers in a 111-101 loss to the Celtics. The Lakers closed out the homestand by playing host to the New York Knicks on Thursday night. And with the Lakers possibly eying their upcoming game against the Celtics, it looked like a distracted team to close out the first half allowing star guard Jalen Brunson (39 points) to score at will. But it was the dynamic duo once again of Luka Doncic (32 points, 12 assists) and LeBron James (31 points, 12 rebounds. 8 assists, 1 turnover) along with inspired play from the bench that brought the Lakers back from a double-digit deficit to take the game into overtime and ultimately pull out a 113-109 victory over New York.
