Everybody knows that the Carolina Hurricanes are one of the New Jersey Devils' toughest opponents. After a four-day gap in between games, the Devils snapped the Hurricanes' three-game winning streak. Jacob Markstrom picked up a win in his 500th career game. Dougie Hamilton got the game-winning goal and the power play continues to shine.

The New Jersey Devils are back to practicing after a couple of days off. They also called up a few players from the Utica Comets including Nolan Foote. Sheldon Keefe was asked what is the team's identity after 21 games. I decided to incorporate my answer as well. Jim Montgomery was recently fired by the Boston Bruins. Honestly, I think the NHL has a head coaching problem.

The New Jersey Devils weren't able to pickup a third straight win while in Florida. They got shutout 4-0 by Andrei Vasilevskiy and the Tampa Bay Lightning. This is the third time that the Devils have been shutout this season. While the loss is disappointing, there might be a simple solution: more rest and practice time. The Devils' next game isn't until Thursday. These next few days might do wonders for them.

The New Jersey Devils defeated the Florida Panthers for the second time in three days. The game was once again a physical contest and New Jersey prevailed. Considering the fact that the Panthers are the defending champions and also first in the Atlantic, this was definitely a statement victory. Jesper Bratt recorded a hat trick and Stefan Noesen had another impressive outing.

I attended the New Jersey Devils' morning skate at Baptist Health IcePlex (Fort Lauderdale). They are set to play the Florida Panthers later tonight. The New Jersey Devils defeated the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers 4-1. The Panthers are first in the Atlantic Division and were riding a seven-game winning streak entering this matchup. It wasn't easy, but the Devils were able to neutralize an aggressive Panthers team. The Devils will play the Panthers once again on Thursday and then travel to Tampa Bay on Saturday.
