• Episode 7: Obligatory season review
    Nov 17 2024

The 2024 season is gone, but not forgotten. As is tradition, we look back over Hook's campaign, with expert analysis and discussion sadly lacking. England's up-and-down (mainly down) recent results are pondered, and we embark on... what's the opposite of a charm offensive?... when we compare Hook players to various objects. For the last time this year, apologies in advance.

  • Clean sweep
    Aug 9 2024
The awful timing of our last recording meant we narrowly avoided coverage of our three-from-three weekend, so here's a bonus episode reacting to 'the treble'. Plus – an important message addressing a recent Lost in the outfield controversy.

  • Episode 6: The Hook Hundred draft
    Aug 5 2024

It's been a month since we last gathered to ponder all things Hook, so it's a bit of a longer episode for you to digest. We discuss the month's goings on including cricket week, President's Day, and league action. We also put together our own, ahem, fantasy teams for Hook's very own version of The Hundred, and look back on England's thumping series win over the West Indies.

*This was recorded on Friday 2 August - before our weekend clean sweep. D'oh!

  • Episode 5: Chatting about batting
    Jun 29 2024
England crashed out of the T20 World Cup and did not have much fun in the process. Is a change needed at the top? H&S is struggling with the bat and we're not having much fun in the process. Is a change in approach required? Personalised walk-on music would make things entertaining at least, and would defintiely be a fun change. You know, in the process. It's podcast five people!

  • Intra-club special
    Jun 11 2024

With no league fixtures this weekend, someone had the good sense to organise an intra-club game so everyone could hone their 'skills'. What transpired was exactly what you would expect when you pit brother against brother, father against son, friend against friend, and Simon against his mortal enemy - teammate immobility. In this bonus... minisode, I guess?... we look back at the game, receive some questionable World T20 predictions, and speak with a Hook stalwart conspicuous by his absence from the field this season.

  • Episode 4: In a league of our own
    May 28 2024

We've been absent for a while and a lot has happened. Hook's league campaign is underway, there have been some fiesty Sunday fixtures and Simon has cleaned his flat. Oh, and some bloke called Jimmy is retiring. And as promised - here is the timestamp for Simon's dismissal at Merton. • Episode 3: Rain stops (most) play
    Apr 30 2024
WE HAD A MATCH! But that was last week, and it's raining again now, so instead of playing we're talking about how shellfish our club captain is, England's batters finding some form, a boost for women's cricket and why the cover drive has some competition from the 'Moseley Paddle'...

  • Episode 2: And the winner is...
    Apr 16 2024
The cricket season is here! Well, it is for some people, not us (yet). In the meantime we have Hook's awards night to look back on while offering our own alternative prizes, the County Championship opens to a Kookaburra run-fest, and Simon attempts to level the scores in a Jos Buttler-inspired IPL quiz.
