  • Episode 677: Coaching Maggie on Resentments, Indecision, and Self-Compassion
    May 21 2025
I have a coaching session for you this week, and in these sessions, I aim to pick topics that are universal. Maggie is brave today and coming on the show with a topic many of us struggle with, resentment, self-abandonment, and the rocky road to self-compassion. I wanted to give this topic a voice because it’s incredibly common. To normalize what it looks like when women find themselves stuck in cycles of indecisiveness, resentment, guilt, and burnout. Maggie’s story is specific, but the themes? They’re everywhere. In this session, we unpack what’s getting in the way for Maggie and work together to create small, actionable steps that bring her closer to showing up for herself in meaningful ways. Her willingness to do the work on herself offers something for all of us - especially if you’ve been taught to prioritize everyone but yourself. You’ll hear us talk about: What it really looks like to explore resentments and why it matters (10:53) How self-abandonment sneaks into everything from parenting to partnership (26:19)\ Why you don’t have to forgive someone in order to heal (28:07) How indecisiveness connects to fear, self-trust, and early family dynamics (28:39) What self-compassion can look like in real time (especially when it’s new) (36:41) Resources: Coaching Single Sessions with Andrea No Bad Parts: Healing Trauma and Restoring Wholeness with the Internal Family Systems Model, Richard Schwartz Book recommendations: I love a good personal development book, and you do too, right? I’ve compiled a list of book recommendations, as mentioned in past episodes. Check out these amazing book recommendations here. Happy reading! • Episode 676: Numbing Out And Avoiding: What It Looks Like And How To Stop
    May 14 2025
You know what I used to call numbing out? A mini vacation. Whether it was wine at the end of the day (I’m now 13 years sober), scrolling endlessly, or just anything to avoid feeling the full weight of my emotions, it all came down to one thing: avoidance. And that’s exactly what I’m getting into in this solo episode, the real reasons we numb, what it costs us, and how to begin doing something different. This one goes beyond “just stop doing it.” I’m talking about the discomfort, the deep emotional wiring, and why it makes total sense that you’ve been avoiding hard feelings. But also, how the shift starts. (Hint: it’s not by beating yourself up.) I’m pulling straight from my book How to Stop Feeling Like Shit and breaking down specific tools to start feeling your feelings, even if you’re a beginner. What You’ll Hear: How numbing and avoiding are really about running from emotions What my therapist told me that I really didn’t want to hear (spoiler: she was right) The “holy emotions” we’re often most afraid to feel: grief, shame, terror, rage The biggest clues that you might be avoiding emotions (including the empathy test) Three key tools to start feeling your feelings: acceptance, curiosity, and self-trust The role of somatic work, breathwork, and psychedelic therapy in emotional healing You’re not broken because you’ve been numbing out. Your body’s been doing its best to keep you safe. This episode is about getting curious, not judgmental; and starting to build a new way forward, one brave feeling at a time. • Minisode 675: New Level, Old Devil: Why Family Of Origin Stuff Keeps Showing Up
    May 9 2025
I’ve had the phrase “New level, old devil” in my notes for years. YEARS. And somehow, it never made it into an episode… until now. Apparently, it wanted to be the finale of minisodes. And honestly? It’s perfect timing, because this one runs deep. (And yes, this is the last minisode I’ll be airing, but don’t worry, the weekly podcast isn’t going anywhere! Just scaling back on the extra minisodes. You’ll get two episodes a month that are interviews, and the other two will be longer solo episodes, similar to the Coming Home to Yourself Series.) Here’s the deal: every time you uplevel—whether it’s in your career, relationships, boundaries, or just giving yourself more damn rest—old stuff tends to come roaring back. Not because you’re doing it wrong, but because growth shakes loose the beliefs you’ve been carrying around since childhood. That family-of-origin stuff? It doesn’t just vanish. It waits in the wings until you're strong enough to deal with it. The truth about those unconscious narratives is that these beliefs are old stories with loyal roots. What you’ll learn in this episode: Why personal growth often triggers unresolved family-of-origin stuff The truth behind “new level, old devil” and how it shows up Six key reflection questions to identify where you’re stuck or playing small The difference between explicit and implicit messages you absorbed growing up How we unconsciously engineer our lives to avoid rejection, discomfort, or being “too much” The connection between your current habits and your need for belonging What it means to wear emotional “armor”—and how to start taking it off The difference between top-down and bottom-up healing work Tools and modalities to start untangling old beliefs: journaling, somatic work, EMDR, psychedelics, and more How this all ties into the habits covered in How to Stop Feeling Like Sht* When you start waking up to the ways you've been staying small, it can feel overwhelming. But here's the thing—you didn’t choose these stories on purpose, and you’re not broken for believing them. This is your invitation to get curious, offer yourself some grace, and begin rewriting your life in a way that honors who you are now—not who you had to be back then. If this episode resonated and you’re ready to finally break free from self-sabotaging habits and start choosing yourself on purpose, join me in How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t: The 8-Week Experience. We start May 15. Details are HERE! I found the book very helpful and it made me feel like I'm not wrong for speaking up for myself. I have been told my whole life that I should not have said this or that, and I am too out spoken. This book said what I have been doing right and gave me tips for things I can do better. You can use the knowledge from this book for all parts of your life.

This is the second book of her I ha e purchased and I am getting another one to start now.
