Guernsey born, Maya Le Tissier, professional footballer who plays as a defender for Manchester United of the English Women’s Super League (WSL) and England’s Women’s National League. She started playing football from aged 4 with the boys, which helped shape her into the player she is today. Aged 16 she left the island to pursue her dream of becoming a professional footballer at Brighton & Hove, then onto signing for Manchester United, to the call up for the Lionesses and the World Cup set-back.
