In this podcast, the host, Rayyan Zein (they/them), will be speaking with a guest speaker; whose name is Samantha Toledo (she/her). Additionally, Rami Zwebti will be sharing with viewers how they can not only spot behaviors and things that encourage gender roles, but also act in ways that prevent gender roles and allows for people to feel safe in identifying with themselves and being who they truly are.

In this podcast, I interviewed Mr. Abanico Jerico, who was the first teacher to establish the social justice curriculum at Moreau Catholic high school. We will talk about how the educational system and institution can support diversity and combat the rising hatred sentiment to support the AAPI community, specifically the Asian youth.

Have you ever wondered where someone who is less fortunate than others receives health care? It is no news that healthcare in the United States is completely broken, overpriced, and dysfunctional. In this episode, we’ll interview Enrique, an advocate who volunteered at the Flying Doctors in the Eastern Coachella Valley. He will be expressing his experience and concerns about our healthcare system.

Welcome to Mind the Gap, a podcast series created by the fellows of Youth Leadership Institute's 2022-2023 Calafia Fellowship. Mind the gap gives suppressed voices a platform to express the inequalities of society and addresses how we can combat them.

This episode is focused on the topic of racial pay gaps in the U.S. and their effect on minority groups. We often hear about the gender pay gap in our society but do not address the racial pay gap nearly as much. Host, Clarissa Wing, invites Dr. David Hayes-Bautista, the director of the Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture at the School of Medicine at UCLA, to uncover the history of the racial pay gap.
