About this listen

Dr. Deborah Brown is here to remind you that it’s time for you to accept or change elements of your life that cause you stress; and she can show you how. In each 53 minute “session” you will journey into self-examination, exploring what lights you up and what weighs you down, and how you arrived at this place where things may feel harder than they should. You will encounter surprising statistics, stories from her patients’ experiences, anecdotes from Dr. Brown’s life, even poems and quotes and a great book recommendation. Dr. Brown wades through the muck of the “self-help” world to emerge with real answers!

She provides a fresh and educated voice using her experiences with hundreds of patients. An expert in human behavior with her own wild ride of life experiences, she is an advocate for ending mental health stigma, raising self-esteem, and finding our voice. Change is hard, but she will show you how it is possible through diligent examination and attention to our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. As a therapist, she has identified a common void created by modern society that leaves people disconnected from others and from themselves. If you are a human and growing, this podcast is for you.

Dr. Deborah Brown is a psychotherapist, behavioral health entrepreneur, health researcher, and mental health advocate. As the founder of Brownstone Center, a collective of innovative mental health professionals, she leads a team in changing the world, one brain at a time! Dr. Brown is a suicide survivor, and in recovery from mental illness. She is a neuro-spicy, sex-affirmative, body-positive cheerleader who asks you to question what you see in media, look at yourself with love, and reminds you that “fitting in” is an outdated concept. If Dolly Parton and Sigmund Freud had a baby, that’s Deborah. Wildly creative and consistently supportive, she takes pride in helping others to learn to live free of the self-imposed limits that bind us to chronic discontent; and closely examines how we make decisions about our time, our health and our relationships.

Dr. Brown holds a BA in Secondary Education/English, an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and MPhil in Social & Behavioral Science and a PhD in Human Services with a Specialty in Public Health. She is a licensed Professional Counselor in the State of NJ. Her examination of the roots of our behaviors and fears has helped many come back from the darkest times in their lives. She has worked with the institutionalized, the suicidal, the stressed and overwhelmed. Her patients include people from all walks of life including celebrities and other therapists. She specializes in high conflict couples and explores the world outside the heteronormative with gusto and expertise.

She is your therapist’s favorite therapist. So, you may not be able to get on her exclusive patient list, but you can join her weekly for “your session” and maybe grow a little each time. Enjoy!
