Tracee Ellis Ross is an award-winning actress, producer, director and CEO. Ross won a Golden Globe Award for her role on ABC's
black-ish which earned her five Emmy nominations. Ross starred on
Girlfriends for eight seasons and has won nine NAACP Image Awards for
black-ish,
Girlfriends, and BET’s
Reed Between The Lines. She starred in the 2020 feature film
The High Note, for which she recorded five original songs.
Ross recently starred opposite Bel Powley in the thriller,
Cold Copy, which premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival. Later this year, Ross will star opposite Eddie Murphy in Amazon’s highly anticipated holiday film
Candy Cane Lane. Ross recently completed production on writer and director Cord Jefferson’s drama feature, starring opposite Jeffrey Wright, Issa Rae, and Sterling K. Brown.
Ross recently signed a multi-year overall deal with ABC Signature under her production company, Joy Mill Entertainment. Additionally, she will star in and serve as executive producer of the adult animated comedy,
Jodie, a series spinoff of MTV’s iconic
Daria franchise.
Ross is CEO and Founder of PATTERN —the award-winning haircare brand she created in 2019. It is the #1 BIPOC brand and #2 curl brand at ULTA Beauty and is also sold at Target and Sephora.
Ross advocates for joy, self-acceptance, inclusivity and equity. In 2018, she became the first Black woman to open the TED Conference. She also moderated a conversation with Michelle Obama for the
Becoming book tour. As ULTA Beauty’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisor, Ross champions initiatives that reframe the narrative around Black women and Black consumers.
Ross received honorary Doctorate degrees from Spelman College in 2023 and Brown University, her alma mater, in 2015.
