• Day 18 of a Year in a Motorhome with James Walters
    Oct 25 2024

In Day 18 of a Year in a Motorhome with James Walters, things get intense as I navigate the challenges of living in a motorhome during the cold winter months. Waking up to a freezing -4°C inside the motorhome, I face issues with my diesel heater and battery, leading to a series of troubleshooting moments. From learning how to manage my lithium battery’s self-heating feature to keeping my motorhome warm and cozy with limited resources, it’s another day packed with lessons.

While the cold presents new challenges, I reflect on the balance between seeking comfort and valuing the essentials in life, like water, heat, and power, all of which are limited when living off-grid. Despite the difficulties, the beauty of the Wye Valley and the stunning sunrise over Studleigh Church makes it all worthwhile. Join me as I continue to learn and adapt to life on the road in these colder months!

    Oct 18 2024

In today's episode of Day 16 of a Year in a Motorhome with James Walters, I find myself near Winchcombe and Brockhampton, taking in stunning views and planning a cardio session around the Roman Villa nestled in Spoonleigh Wood. After experiencing a cold start to the day at zero degrees in the motorhome, I share my journey through balancing energy conservation and soaking up nature's beauty in the Cotswolds.

I reflect on how my life has changed, embracing the freedom of a transient lifestyle while remaining mindful of stability and planning. As always, I continue to use the Wild Guide Central England to discover breathtaking locations and new wild places to explore. Plus, there’s a stunning sunrise along the River Severn that was absolutely awe-inspiring.

  • Day 14 of a Year in a Motorhome with James Walters
    Oct 4 2024

In today's episode of "Beneath the Oxwich Adventures: A Year in a Motorhome with James Walters," I reflect on the past few days and share my experiences exploring the wild beauty of the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean. From navigating tricky farm tracks to discovering stunning views at the Buckstone, this leg of the journey has been filled with challenges, peaceful spots, and moments of solitude in nature. I talk about my ongoing mission to improve my sleep, finding joy in simplicity, and the freedom of motorhome life, especially when surrounded by nature's beauty.

I parked up at Staunton and spent time hiking Offa's Dyke path, with incredible walks to places like Devil's Pulpit, where the views are truly breathtaking. Despite the freezing temperatures, I’m making the most of it—whether it’s with a shower using my LifeSaver Jerry Can or topping up water from nearby streams, I love the independence that comes with this lifestyle.

I also explore my thoughts on building a tiny cabin in such peaceful spots and how places like the Wye Valley keep calling me back. Life in the motorhome is simple, connected to nature, and full of adventure—even in the cold!
