Today I’m talking with Damon Adeang from Nauru. Damon is working for the Ministry of Finance of his country and is now detached to the permanent mission of Nauru at the United Nations. Carried by a strong sense of humility, Damon is navigating through life helping others along the way and trying at every step to have an impact however the position. A natural sense of leadership that brings him interesting perspectives on the future of the Pacific Region.

Today I’m talking with Melissa Akko from Tuvalu. Melissa is a lawyer at the office of the Attorney general in the government of Tuvalu. Having found her confidence and her voice during her time in the Pacific Islands Leadership Program, Melissa is building her way to be an advocate for her people and to help her people be able to face the existential challenge of climate change that is impacting our Pacific communities and livelihoods.

As a journalist for most of her career Lillian shares with us the main issues that she’s been covering along the year and how, despite those issues, there’s still hope to build a greater Pacific region, because of its people, the richness of its diversity but also, more simply by being ourselves those examples of positive changes for others.

For this new episode, I’m talking with Henry Kaniki from the Solomon Islands. After years leading successfully a conservation project in his island, I talked to Henry when he was about to graduate from his Masters. During our chat we’re talking about his experience as a community leader and his plan to step up and aime for higher leadership positions in the coming years. Henry tells us about the importance of stepping up when you realize that things need to be changed.
