• Breweries With Kids
    Dec 22 2020
Should you bring your kids with you to a brewery? We discussed this question and a few other topics. We're also still adjusting to our new location, Portland, Oregon. We talk about that a bit. Then we go on to talk about what we're listening to. We even played the songs on a MacBook Air, so the sound quality of those songs isn't great (although the MacBook Air speakers are surprisingly good). We recommend that you go check out the songs on your own. Adjusting to a new place is hard. Podcasting has kind of taken the edge off of the move. It's like we have some sort of communication with the outside world. Like, maybe someone is hearing us. We're communicating. Part of a community. I don't know. It's also just fun to create and a good distraction. We hope you enjoyed this one! • Karens and Macaroons
    Dec 16 2020
The pandemic has put us all under a lot of pressure. We find ourselves at the edge of sanity more than we'd like. It's no surprise then, that it seems there are more videos surfacing of "Karens" lashing out at people on the streets, and at neighborhood Starbucks. We're just trying to keep calm ourselves, and maybe reflect on the times we've been Karens ourselves. Be kind to each other, especially the ones you're quarantined with. • The Algorithm Made Me Do It
    Nov 22 2020
This might be our longest podcast episode ever. It's a stitching of a few different recording sessions. I like it, though. It feels like a metaphor for parenting. You have great thoughts, but get interrupted constantly and have to pick up where you left off later.  In this one we talk about The Algorithm. We watched a documentary on Netflix called The Social Dilemma. That doc was a good one, talking about privacy, social media influence, and how the algorithm helps to shape who we are and the decisions we make.  We also talk about our impending move to Oregon. It's been on our mind. It is on our mind. These are the chronicles of said move.  I hope you enjoy this episode and extra points if you make it from start to finish.  We promised to link:  Unlocking Us with Brené Brown Smash Boom Best Necronomipod Sango Splash Audrey Nuna Reply All Pastor With No Answers Labeled  Dad I Have To Pee Curious Lorenzo  American History Tellers Sunny Day Real Estate Get in touch:  Lindsey tweets at @LindseyFace28 Lorenzo tweets at @offlohi Parenting Vs Podcast tweets at @parentingvspod Barelas Podcaster's Guild, including guild podcasts can be found at barelaspodcastersguild.com All our music is made by Jeff: https://soundcloud.com/jeff-omidvaran

  • Fake Laughs and Real Moves
    Oct 10 2020
Some big changes are on the horizon for us. In this episode we talk about our anticipated move to Portland. We're doing it. We're finally doing it. At least, that's what it looks like. We discuss the reasons for our move, the struggles and joys we experienced in Albuquerque, and the dream of starting new in a different city.  We promised to link:  Kurzgesagt Utopia The Juliana Theory My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding Run The Jewels Get in touch:  Lindsey tweets at @LindseyFace28 Lorenzo tweets at @offlohi Parenting Vs Podcast tweets at @parentingvspod Barelas Podcaster's Guild, including guild podcasts can be found at barelaspodcastersguild.com All our music is made by Jeff: https://soundcloud.com/jeff-omidvaran

  • Giving Grace
    Sep 11 2020
Time is moving slow and fast at the same time. How is this even possible? Every day begins the same--I wake up between 5:30 and 6. I stumble to the coffee pot then make coffee. I clean the dishes in the sink if there are any. Then I sit on my patio chair outside and watch the sun come up and wait for the chaos and noise that awaits when the all the kids wake up.  Every. Day. Begins. The. Same. Way.  It's like groundhog day, but with more masks, and less friends. It's no wonder 6 months felt like 100 years and 1 month at the same time.  But in all this, it's hard to focus on your mental health. It's hard to get clarity. It's hard to breathe. To take a moment to think. To feel okay. It's hard. Then things begin to pile up, and frustration builds. I don't know about you, but I can take it out on the person that just happens to be in the same room as me. And more often than not it's a child of mine, or my spouse.  The pandemic has been hard to say the least.  In this episode we talk about our frustrations that are ongoing. How we're handling. Some honesty on parenting and some honesty on marriage. We hope you enjoy this episode. Thanks for listening! Aug 24 2020
We're not really moving to Staten Island, but it might not be so bad. The hot weather, pandemic life, working from home, and online school has brought us down.  In this episode, we get into the nitty gritty of mental health, our opinions on faith and how it relates to politics, and we discuss the frustrations of doing online school with our kids while just trying to maintain.  Lindsey tweets at @LindseyFace28 Lorenzo tweets at @offlohi Parenting Vs Podcast tweets at @parentingvspod All our music is made by Jeff: https://soundcloud.com/jeff-omidvaran

We don't mince words in this episode. Well, I'm not sure if we ever mince words. In this one we go into our faith, BLM, Trump, the evangelical church, anti-maskers, and local megachurch pastor Steve Smotherman.  We brought up the Albuquerque journal article about the impact of sending our kids to school. You can find that here.  Lindsey tweets at @LindseyFace28 Lorenzo tweets at @offlohi Parenting Vs Podcast tweets at @parentingvspod All our music is made by Jeff: https://soundcloud.com/jeff-omidvaran
