  • 182. RODRIGO FLORES-ROUX ~ What Does 2025 Smell Like? (According to a World-Renowned Perfumer.)
    Jul 15 2025

Givaudan VP Perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux generously returns to the Perfume Room to offer a definitive roadmap to the past, present, and future of perfume. Bookmark this ep. You'll come back to it.

Rodrigo is a fragrance genealogist of sorts, tracing your favorite perfumes’ parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. He offers a rare perfumer's POV on the current landscape: What’s trending? Why? What even qualifies as a trend? Should we care? And what's happening in the world today that will shape how fragrance smells tomorrow?

    Jul 8 2025

Cécile Zarokian is one of the greatest independent perfumers of all time, but she wasn’t always independent, and she hadn’t always planned on becoming a perfumer, either.

Today, she’s in the Perfume Room sharing how she’s redefined the rules of the game, turned her greatest challenges into strengths, and found the CZP edge—her proverbial captive if you will—that helps her compete with (and win against) the industry’s biggest players.

I’ve been following Emma on tiktok for awhile, and I find myself always going back to her videos. This is a great way to save myself the trouble of finding a specific TT video while still learning so much about perfume! I’ve always loved perfume, but I’m someone who is always afraid to take the plunge and purchase, but her reviews make perfume shopping so much easier and so much more fun!

I’ve been following Emma on TikTok for a while, so when I heard she had a podcast..I hopped on that real quick! As part of the PerfumeTok community, I especially loved hearing from the Thin Wild Mercury creators (Zuma is my f*cling FAVE!!) about their inspiration, working together, and their backgrounds before perfumery.

Would definitely recommend her podcast, whether you like perfume or not. She’s hilarious! She makes a lot of funnies :)

I'm an episode in and gotta say this is a good listen, with a few comingled themes, absolutely brilliant. Check this out, you won't regret it. Easy to follow, yet intriguing. Very educational. I am going binge to older episodes. I feel smarter. Emma is a master storyteller. I needed this podcast to add variety to my collection of weekly listens. Now I'm here for the journey!

Thank you for always being authentic ❤

I'm so glad I found a woman who can actually tell me how a perfume smells in real words and it's like I can actually smell it with my eyes and ears.

I can smell it

this podcast is like wearing your favorite sweater; comforting, smells good, and a sure fit! Hygge. lovely conversation dabbles into juicy, informative insights, and plenty of witt from Emma. She has interviewed such a wide variety of folks, there is sure to be something interesting for anyone to glean from this podcast. Emma sounds so personable and conversational in her interviews that it is easy to relate and easy to laugh. There have been some amazing fragrance recs as well and I love when she breaks down certain perfume notes to be easy to understand, since not all of us are ateliers ;)

Funny, entertaining, informative!

I found Emma on TikTok after her recommendations for “Warm, Sensual, Florals”. Ever since I’ve been hooked. This podcast is so smart and fun. I’ve learned so much more about perfumes and scents and how to actually wear them lol
