Peters Sports Almanack

By: Bill Peters
  • Summary

  • Having started a podcast that was originally about "everything" before morphing into an almost total cricket related podcast, and then starting up a separate podcast to talk about sport with his son (who soon discovered his folly and walked away before going insane), this has become the third iteration of that overwhelming obsession with talking sport. Published weekly, each episode contains what I consider to be the talking points of the week, from home and abroad. Hopefully, you will find something of interest in it. Peters Sports Almanack. Sports Podcast. Lovers of sport, experts on none.

  • Episode 29: October 21, 2024: xBox Golfers Line Up to Play PGA Professionals
    Oct 22 2024

Welcome back to the podcast where research and knowledge are secondary to the ramblings of an old man and the occasional appearance of his teenage son.

The Women’s T20 World Cup has reached its conclusion with shocks aplenty, and a brand new holder of the Cup. We discuss the potential gains for women’s cricket around the world now that other nations apart from the so-called Big Three have forced their way into a World Cup final.

Tim Tszyu has had his lights knocked out in the US, and his career appears on the ropes, so to speak. We discuss the implications of the beating and his future.

Cricket upsets continued in the men’s game, with both England and India defeated in matches they were expected to dominate. We try not to gloat to much in discussing the matches in detail and what may result from those outcomes.

Then we head back home and discuss the second round of the Sheffield Shield, and what the results and the performances suggest for the season ahead in terms of Australia’s international summer.

And have you played golf on the xBox? Then you too may be ready to play in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s brand new comp. We have a giggle at what has been announced today.

Finally, the international rugby league has begun, and after two interesting and engaging matches we look at whether it can be a boon for the game.
