• 63. An ADHD Study of the World's Most Remote Inhabited Settlement
    Feb 27 2025

Current events and the stress of the world and life weighing you down? Take a vacation of the mind this week with us to Tristan da Cunha, a South Atlantic volcanic island farther from anywhere and anyone than any other place in the world. Settled in the early 1800s, this island was home to a handful of people. Through isolation, limited resources, and natural disasters the people of Tristan da Cunha have survived for over 200 years and their numbers have grown - but only just. 222 people currently live on the island - but they have never opened their doors to new residents. Centuries of seclusion have led to the island’s current population descending from just a handful of ancestors.

We experienced some microphone malfunctions during this episode. We apologize for the sound quality and are looking into how to avoid this moving forward.

Ruby Franke was a Mormon mommy vlogger who found fame through her wildly popular YouTube channel 8 Passengers. At its height, the channel boasted over 2 million subscribers, but it all came crashing down as backlash grew over Ruby’s increasingly disturbing discipline tactics. Enter Jodi Hildebrandt, a self-proclaimed mental health coach highly revered by the LDS church. Together, their cult-like ideologies and thirst for control created a dangerous spiral—one that would lead to devastating consequences.

July is the deadliest month of the year when it comes to hot car deaths. So what better time to spread awareness? Coincidentally the most notorious hot car death case has been in the news recently. On June 18, 2014, Justin Ross Harris left his 22 month old son Cooper Harris in a hot car for 7 hours while he was at work. He was charged with his murder among many other things and was sentenced to life without parole. But on June 22, 2022, his murder charges were overturned by the Georgia Supreme Court due to an unfair trial. Harris was released into the custody of Cobb County on June 16, 2024, 2 days before the 10th anniversary of Cooper’s death. Learn the ins and outs of this story and form your own opinion. And remember, always double check your back seat.
