  • Erin Patterson & The Mushroom Murders: Part One | #409
    Jul 24 2025

At lunchtime, a family in southeast Australia sat down for beef wellington with a mushroom duxelles, creamy mash and buttery green beans. The next morning, most of the guests would be violently ill. A week later, three of them would be dead. Only one diner was totally unaffected: the host, Erin Patterson… who later would stand trial for murder by poison mushroom.

In part one of our post-trial evaluation of this case, we take a look back at that fateful lunch, and Erin’s increasingly evasive and bizarre behaviour in the weeks after it – all while her family members fought for their lives.

The video version of this episode will be on our YouTube channel from 24th July.

  • Diddy: The Trial | #408
    Jul 17 2025

On Wednesday 2 July 2025, a jury found Sean Combs NOT GUILTY of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy – his two most serious charges, which carried a potential sentence of life in prison. He was found guilty on lesser charges of transportation to engage in prostitution.

So, despite all the clear evidence of guilt, how did the jury come to this decision in just two days of deliberation? We take a closer look at how the trial went down, what part Cassie Ventura played, and where the defence went so very wrong…

  • UPDATE - Constance Marten & Mark Gordon
    Jul 16 2025

This week, Constance Marten and Mark Gordon were found GUILTY of gross negligence manslaughter. So, on top of our rereleased episode from last year, here is everything you need to know from the bizarre retrial: unbelievable revelations about Mark Gordon's past crimes, an answer on Constance's mysterious 'fall' from a balcony, and more delays and fired barristers than we ever thought possible.

    --

When the body of a weeks-old baby was found in a plastic bag in a shed, covered in soil and rubbish, it marked the end of one of the UK’s strangest and most tragic criminal manhunts. The baby’s parents were Constance Marten and Mark Gordon – an aristocratic heiress and an American convicted rapist.

As a jury wrestled for months over the couple’s guilt, more and more shocking details came out. Details of nights spent in a cheap tent out on the freezing moors. Of Gordon’s brutal criminal history. And the heartbreaking image that stuck in the nation’s mind more than anything else: the accusation that the baby had spent its short life carried around, in the depths of winter, in nothing but a plastic shopping bag.

I cannot say enough about this delightful podcast. These lovely ladies take the listener down a dark path of true crime with wit and facts. I binge RedHanded every weekend while cleaning, walking the dog, cooking dinner…I’m addicted! This podcast is essential if you love true crime. :)

Obsessed

95% of the time I really enjoy this podcast. I've listened to almost every episode over the past few years. The stories are accurate and clearly narrated, if not a little formulaic. My only gripe is that 5% of the time when either of the hosts actually come off as arrogant/insufferable when trying to be funny about something, where they're not very informed.

Great story telling

love the narrators as well as they are absolutely comedic to listen to! they make any story digestible without the excess Grimm factor but they also just tell it like it is! I love the theories at the end as well, really leaves it for an open discussion!

Best true crime that's digestible

I first found these ladies by chance. I was looking for a true crime podcast that wasn’t droll or borderline insulting to the victims. They are informative entertaining and although this is not their full time job they are very active on social media with their listeners. Continuing the discussion after the podcast has ended. They remind me of my sister and I discussing these cases but save us the time of researching. I don’t know if they will see this but thank you for all the effort you put into this podcast.

Fantastic

In my 30 adult years of true crime obsession, this is my favorite of any show/podcast. The witty banter and sarcastic skepticism is pure gold.
So many shows are dumbed down and/or over explained, so every simple mind can easily follow along. But these hosts are intelligent with an above average (it would seem based on other shows) ability to reason. They each write sections for the other to read, so legitimate, interesting, questions come up and are explained. They look up and read facts that you actually want to know or find interesting even if you already know the basics of. They give you links/sources of you need or want additional information. But don't waste your time explaining things every true crime fan has heard a million times.
The best is the regular comedic breaks from the macabre. Sarcastic responses to statements from media, law enforcement, suspects, etc. Hilariously unexpected language in an English accent is just a bonus.
They were several years in by the time I discovered them, and I listened to nothing else until completely caught up.

Best true crime EVER

Well researched and entertaining. The occasional detours from the stories are also much appreciated.

Absolutely love this one!
