  • In my research circles the number of healthcare professionals who are occupational therapist (OT) who I know of who do research are rare. When I visited Sweden, I met an OT who was doing research, of course I invited her to be a guest. This episode surprised me in many ways, but you need to listen to what Dr Maria Andreassen to find out.

    Bio: Maria is a university lecturer in occupational therapy at Linkoping University and the associate director of the graduate school, Integrated care in the South-East healthcare region. The goal of her research is to conduct studies that aim to give people with chronic diseases the environments for activity and participation in everyday life activities. She has interest in studying digital technology that can create opportunities for activity, participation and health. She completed her PhD in 2021, which was titled: "Digital support for people with cognitive impairment: An intervention to increase the occupational performance in everyday life". She is now working on a research project developing and investigating exer-games with the aim of increasing people’s physical activity (https://liu.se/forskning/heart-exg).
