Whether you struggle with an addiction or know someone who does, this guide can be a blessing in your life. With permission from Alcoholics Anonymous, the 12 steps have been adapted to include the doctrines, principles, and beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this guide, the steps are presented in order along with a related gospel principle. This guide will help you learn how to apply these steps. No matter what your circumstances are, these steps can help you come unto Christ and receive the blessings of recovery and healing.

Addictions may include the use of substances such as tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, and both prescription and illegal drugs. Addictions may also include behaviors such as gambling, viewing pornography, lust, inappropriate sexual behaviors, video gaming, inappropriate technology use, and unhealthy eating. While health care professionals consider addiction a physical disease, the physical aspect is only part of the problem. Addiction affects the mind, body, and spirit, so the solution must address all aspects of the disease.

This guide is not specific to any particular addiction. Though people struggle with different types of addiction, many have found a common solution in the path outlined in this guide. It is a workbook and reference for anyone who desires to recover from any type of addiction. This guide is the primary reading material in the addiction recovery support meetings sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Recovery begins when we are honest and admit that we struggle with addiction. For some people, identifying themselves as addicts in recovery meetings helps them to be honest and to remember just how powerful their addiction can be. However, we should be careful that this does not limit our hope or trust in God. If we define ourselves as addicts, we may unintentionally deny the truth that Jesus Christ can heal us and change our very nature. In our recovery, we must all find a balance between being honest about the power of addiction while at the same time trusting that Jesus Christ can restore us to complete spiritual health.

    Saints in the South CLASSIC!
This week we talk about the initial disappointment that was felt by many members of the church when they showed up in Independence, Missouri, expecting to see a thriving community of Saints. They later discovered it was not yet time for them to build the city of Zion. In a revelation to Joseph Smith, The Lord told the saints "Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God... and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation."
Many times it is so much harder to keep our eyes on the promised blessings rather than focus on the current tribulation we are experiencing. That's one reason it is important to stay "Anxiously engaged in a good cause" It will help us forget about our current struggles and challenges. Then before we know it, the blessings have come!
What good causes are you "anxiously engaged in"?

We discuss the faith of Polly Knight. We also discuss the sabbath day and what the early saints might have done to keep the sabbath day holy.
Is it easier to keep the Sabbath holy today, or in the early days of the church?
Join us this week as we apply the experiences of the early saints to our own lives!

    May 25 2025

    Send us a text

Can we really love God with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength? And if so, how do we actually do that in our daily lives?

In this episode, we dive deep into the greatest commandment given by the Savior — exploring what it truly means to give God our everything. We break down each aspect of this powerful scripture: loving God with our heart (our desires), mind (our thoughts), soul (our spirit and identity), and strength (our actions and efforts). Through personal experiences, scriptures, and practical insights, we talk about what it looks like to love God completely — not just in word, but in how we live, think, and serve.

Whether you’re striving to deepen your faith or simply want to align your life more fully with God’s will, this discussion will challenge and inspire you to love Him with your whole being.

    Saints in the South CLASSIC!
Join us this week as we discuss the continued difficulties the saints had of building up the church. All while having to move, purchase new lands and re establish themselves time and time and again. The early saints were challenged physically and spiritually to build of God's Kingdom here on the earth. From Bishop Edward Partridge, Leman Copley, Sidney Gilbert, to Newel Knight, W.W. Phelps, Ezra Thayre, and Thomas B. Marsh. All of these men were faced with their own challenges as The Lord looked for each mean to use their talents, means, and time to build up the Kingdom of God on earth. We find that some were willing to do anything that was required of them while others, although having a willing mind and heart, lacked the courage to fulfill their duties. Let's see what we can learn from these early saints and how we can apply it to our lives. The road traveled is not an easy one.

    May 19 2025

Church and Family Councils (part 2/2)
In part two of our discussion on church and family councils, we continue the conversation by diving deeper into why these councils matter and how they can powerfully bless individuals, families, and congregations. We reflect on the spiritual purposes behind councils—how they unite hearts, invite revelation, and ensure no one is overlooked. Whether it’s a ward council, elders quorum presidency, or a simple family council around the dinner table, these gatherings provide a sacred opportunity for inspired collaboration and ministering. We’ll also explore common obstacles to effective councils and how to overcome them through humility, preparation, and listening to the Spirit. This episode reinforces the truth that revelation is more often found in council than in isolation.

Are We Using Church Councils the Lord’s Way?
Church councils are more than meetings—they’re a sacred pattern revealed by God to help us govern His Church and strengthen His Saints. But are we using them the way the Lord intended?

In this episode, we dive into the divine design of church councils: how they should function, what their purpose truly is, and how the Spirit should lead. From ward and stake councils to family councils at home, we’ll explore the blessings that come when councils are unified, Spirit-led, and focused on building Zion.

Whether you’re a bishop, a Relief Society president, or a parent seeking revelation at home, this conversation will inspire you to approach councils as the Lord’s tool for revelation, unity, and action.

"Seek Ye Earnestly the Best Gifts"...
This week we go back to our discussion from 2021! Saints in the South talk about the gifts of the spirit, who has them, and how we can obtain them. Gifts of the spirit come in many forms. Sometimes we don't even recognize the gifts that we do have but there others recognize those gifts we have. If there are gifts that you want, you can seek after those gifts and encouraged to do so. Gifts of the spirit are like our temporal talents. They have to be exercised, worked, studied on, and developed.
We also talk about who is welcome in our church. Early on there was some confusion as to who could attend church with the saints. There were some who wanted to exclude people. The Lord made it clear that all our welcome. And today, on all church buildings, you will see that "visitors are welcome".
Finally, we talk about who can partake of the sacrament and if all should partake of the sacrament and what does it mean for a non member to partake of the sacrament vs. a member.
