Our heroes Veronica (Gemma Whelan) and Gary (Rufus Hound) have been selected to be the first to exit luxurious Fallout Shelter 7421, since the apocalypse of many generations ago.

Simpleton Gary is up for exploring, but Veronica is determined to hide around the corner for two weeks, eating baked beans. Disaster strikes when they are captured by slavers and thrown into a prison cell. There they meet up with deluded, self styled pirate queen Lady Reaver (Sindhu Vee) and her hideously deformed mutant Clump (Marek Larwood).

Despite their collective incompetence, they escape, but Veronica and Gary are now lost in the desolate wilderness of post-Armageddon Britain. How will they ever get back to civilisation?

Desperate for food after struggling for days through a swamp, Veronica, Lady Reaver, Gary and Clump find a friendly farmhouse, where they are offered delicious food. But what exactly is in these pies and sausages? Lady Reaver knows and it gives her an idea that will make Clump's life even more miserable. Gary meanwhile, has his own simple plan to bring joy to the locals.

An acid snow storm forces our heroes to take shelter in a mysterious concrete building in the wasteland. What they find inside threatens to mess with their minds, but Gary falls in love and Lady Reaver thinks she can outwit even the smartest of foes.

Our four odd ball heroes are lost, and Veronica is missing the comforts of the Fallout Shelter. They stumble across the weird town of Egon, where the elders are destroying all life by using a radioactive crystal as a power source. The same crystal makes Clump mutate into the most attractive man on the planet, and he drives the local women wild. That inspires Lady Reaver to come up with a cunning plan.

When Clump fertilises a mutant egg in a bush, he is overjoyed to become a father at last. But what kind of mutant son is gestating in that egg? Meanwhile, dim-witted Gary solves the town’s ancient puzzle and becomes its leader, hailed as King Gary The Wise. Veronica can hardly contain her anger that he has been officially declared more intelligent than she is. It’s a recipe for murder and chaos.

When Lady Reaver's mother The Empress arrives, family rivalries and a band of child pirates threaten to upend any of Veronica's plans to find their way back to Fallout Shelter 7421.

Meanwhile, poor Clump escapes from Reaver's clutches, only to find himself in even more trouble. It’s a cruel world, for a mutant slave.
