  • Missing Case: The Mysterious Disappearance of Leah Roberts
    Jan 1 2025

Welcome to our first ever episode of Siblings in Crime!

In March of 2000, Leah Roberts, a 23-year-old from Durham, NC, set off on a journey to find herself, leaving behind her family and a life full of tragedy. After a string of personal losses, including the death of both her parents and a near-fatal car accident, Leah withdrew from college and embraced a more free-spirited lifestyle, inspired by the writings of Jack Kerouac. The catalyst for her disappearance came on March 9, 2000, when Leah packed her Jeep Cherokee and withdrew $3,000 in cash, telling no one where she was headed.

Two days after she left, her concerned roommate, Nichole, reached out to Leah’s sister, Kara. No one knew where Leah was, but the discovery of a note left behind in Leah’s room suggested Leah had gone off on her own accord, not intending to return soon. The letter included cryptic messages and references to Kerouac’s “On the Road,” and the date “April 23rd” stood out as a possible return point.

However, Leah was never seen again.

On March 13, 2000, Leah's abandoned Jeep Cherokee was found crashed on Canyon Creek Road, near Mount Baker in Washington state. The car showed signs of being involved in a crash, but there was no blood or injuries found, and Leah was nowhere to be found.

The disappearance of Leah Roberts is shrouded in mystery, with questions about whether she staged her own disappearance, was the victim of something more sinister, or met with a tragic accident. Despite extensive investigations, no new answers have emerged, leaving the Roberts family with a haunting and unresolved mystery.
