Soccer Caused A Life Altering Traumatic Brain Injury, Here's What She Learned | Mary Grayson Nix, Former Soccer Player

  • Summary

  • Injuries, especially concussions are pretty customary in sports. While we may think that we're unstoppable out there on the field, the reality is, nothing is guaranteed. Today's episode is a testament to exactly that. Mary Grayson Nix was no stranger to concussions, suffering a total of SIX throughout her soccer career. The crazy thing about concussions is since they happen so often they aren't looked at as seriously as they should. A concussion is defined as "temporary unconsciousness or confusion caused by a blow on the head" or a MILD Traumatic Brain Injury. It makes you think, what makes a SERIOUS Traumatic Brain Injury? Who is the judge of it? When will you know if it's mild or serious? What's the protocol for a serious brain injury? Can you overcome it?

Well, Mary is here to chat all about her experience. This has been a truly life changing experience for her and we are so grateful to her for opening up.
