• The OU Sooners face a must win game vs Mizzou!
    Nov 6 2024

On this episode of Sooner State of Mind, stoke levels are rising! The Sooners are coming off their best game of the season. It was a 59-14 beatdown of the Maine Black Bears. The Sooners hope to build off last week's performance against a much better opponent this week. The Oklahoma Sooners are on the road this weekend to take on the #24 Missouri Tigers. If the Sooners can find a way to win on Saturday they will become bowl eligible. They need this win because their final two games are against Alabama and LSU. Lock this one down and then hope for the best. We also got a look at the first 12-team playoff rankings. The matchups will eventually change but even so, there are some super tasty games. • Can the Sooners keep the Maine thing the main thing?
    Oct 30 2024

On this episode of Sooner State of Mind, stoke levels are rising! It's been a long time since we've felt like we are definitely going to get a win on Saturday. We all feel pretty good about the chances of getting that win this weekend, right? The Sooners are set to host the Maine Black Bears on Saturday, so this might be their best and last chance to get an easy win. I don't want to count my win chickens before they hatch, but the Sooners should roll in this one. Hopefully, they can build off of a good half of football last week and parlay it into at least two more wins on the season. • Before a trip to the Sip, the Oklahoma Sooners Fire OC Seth Littrell
    Oct 22 2024

On this episode of Sooner State of Mind, stoke levels are rising! Because, there is nowhere to go but up after the dismantling, the Sooners received from the South Carolina Gamecocks. Beamer's boys rolled into Norman and rolled the Sooners 35-9. That was only a week after Texas rolled the Sooners 34-3. We now at least have some hope regarding the woeful production or lack thereof from the Sooners' offense. Brent Venables made the decision early in the week to fire offensive coordinator Seth Littrell. With all of the injury issues that have plagued the Sooners this season, it is hard to pin everything on Littrell, but something had to change. BV elevated co-offensive coordinator Joe Jon Finley to offensive coordinator, no co. JJF will have a 5 game audition to appease a rabid Sooner Nation. That audition starts on Saturday against a very tough opponent in Ole Miss. Can the Sooners do enough on offense to hang with the Rebels? We will find out on Saturday. Oh, and Texas and USC both lost last week, to make the weekend a little bit better. Hopefully, they can both do that again this week. Either way, we ride with our Sooners. • The Sooners have an identity crisis!
    Oct 16 2024

On this episode of Sooner State of Mind, stoke levels are rising! Well, I wouldn't say they are rising. They might be sinking. So much expectation going into the game last week against Texas. Only to have our offense put up three stinking points. This team can't run or pass and points are very hard to come by when you can't do either. The sky is not falling but, we need to find answers to some tough questions. So far, it does not look like we have any of those answers. Right now, the Sooners have a major identity crisis. That being said, one good game could turn it all around. I am just not sure that, that game is coming. If it doesn't come this week, it is not coming any time soon. The schedule only gets tougher from here on out. So, what do we do? That is the million-dollar question. Even if we don't have answers, maybe a Georgia win over Texas will make us feel a little bit better. Either way, we ride with our Sooners, no matter what. • Let the hate flow. It's The Red River Rivalry SEC Style: OU vs Texas!
    Oct 9 2024

On this episode of Sooner State of Mind, stoke levels are rising! The Sooners are back from their bye week. In hindsight, it seems like a great week not to have played football, as there were upsets galore. Will that trend continue this week? Let's hope so because it is officially time to get the hate flowing. That's right, it is the 120th Edition of the Red River Rivalry, but the first of the SEC variety. It is the #18 Oklahoma Sooners vs the #1 ranked Texas Longhorns. Last year the Sooners ripped the hearts out of Bevo with the instant classic 34-30 win over the Horns. Can OU do it again as 14.5 underdogs? That game would be enough, but there are a handful of awesome, and I mean totally awesome games on the Week 7 schedule. Can this week top last week? Only one way to find out! It's time to get into a Sooner State of Mind! footballdudesla footballdudeslaIG footballdudesfacebook

  • Kip, Kip Hooray! OU stirs up some Sooner Magic with an epic win over Auburn!
    Oct 2 2024

On this episode of Sooner State of Mind, stoke levels are rising! Oh, baby, the Sooners' first SEC Conference road game did not disappoint as Kip Lewis and Michael Hawkins Jr stirred up some Sooner Magic in the incredible 27-21 comeback win against Auburn! This game had a little good, bad, and definitely some ugly. But when the game was on the line, the Sooners showed up and showed out! It was just an amazing and galvanizing win for this team. We wondered if the moment might be too big for Michael Hawkins Jr, the true freshman quarterback, and the answer to that, was a resounding hell no! Even so, it took a 4th quarter Kip Lewis pick-six to complete the comeback and help steal the win for the Sooners. With a bye week on the horizon, the Sooners can shift their focus to the hated ones. The Red River Rivalry is going down in two weeks, so the rest comes at a great time for a Sooners team trying to get healthy. There was another less important but amazing game last week as well. It was Georgia at Alabama. Bama jumped out to a 28-0 lead but had to hold on to escape with the 41-34 win. we will share our thoughts on that game as well. • It's Hawk vs War Eagle as OU takes on Auburn in their 1st SEC road game.
    Sep 26 2024

On this episode of Sooner State of Mind, stoke levels are rising! Optimism is in the air. At the beginning of the year, if you told me JFA would be benched in his fourth start, I would have said you were smoking something. Yet here we are as the times are changing. It's now freshman sensation Michael Hawkins Jr. taking over at quarterback looking to channel his best Jamelle Holieway. Can Hawkins come in and save the season? It is a lot to put on the young man's shoulder, but this dude is built differently. He wants all the smoke, and on Saturday he's gonna try and prove it in front of 88,000 screaming fans. It is gonna be a crazy atmosphere, but if Hawkins can pull out the win for the Sooners, vibes will be high! Hopefully, we get to wash our victory over Auburn down with a tall cool glass of Georgia at Alabama. Either way, it will make for a tasty nightcap. • Can Michael Hawkins Jr. save the Sooners season?
    Sep 22 2024

On this episode of Sooner State of Mind, stoke levels are rising! Well, I wouldn't say stoke levels are rising after last night's game. The Sooners SEC home opener did not go according to plan. Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Vols came to Norman and beat our Sooners 25-15. It was not the result we were looking for, but now even more questions need to be answered. To put it mildly, Jackson Arnold struggled badly in this game, as did the entire offense. With less than a minute left in the first half of the game, Brent Venables had seen enough. JFA was benched and Michael Hawkins Jr. made his first meaningful appearance as a Sooner. While he did start a little slow, he did provide a spark and some electricity to a dormant offense. One thing became absolutely clear, this OU defense is too good to have a subpar offense. So moving forward, will Michael Hawkins be the starter? We will give our thoughts on that as well as recap some of the biggest games from the week in college football.
