Switchfoot's Jon Foreman on music and inspiration

  • Summary

  • American rock band Switchfoot had early success in the Christian rock scene in the late nighties and early noughties later gaining mainstream recognition. They released their major album The Beautiful Letdown with hits including 'Meant to Live' and 'Dare you to Move' exploring faith and philosophy. But the band has always questioned the 'Christian' musical label once telling Rolling Stone magazine "We're Christian by faith, not genre." As the son of a pastor- frontman Jon Foreman's expansive lyrics explore the big questions of faith with lines like "We were meant to live for so much more. Have we lost ourselves?" and "I don't belong here. I'm gonna set sight and set sail for the kingdom come."
