It’s the end of the school year and chaos is in full swing! In this hilarious and heartwarming episode of Teachers Off Duty, Bri is back and joined by fellow educators Anna and Lauren for a ladies’ night full of laughs, laser tag stories, and a whole lot of teacher real talk.

From being physically and emotionally overstimulated to getting roasted by their own students (“lemon pepper steppers,” anyone?), the teacher trio shares what it really feels like to crawl toward summer break. They spill on classroom observations, field day injuries, kindergarten finger paintings, and the surprisingly emotional goodbye that happens every single year.

Plus, we talk about the Bored Teachers Comedy Tour, our favorite spirit week moments, and what it's like when your own kid attends your school. Whether you’re a fellow educator, a parent, or just nosy about the behind-the-scenes madness of the classroom, this episode is for you. Tune in and commiserate, celebrate, and laugh your way to the end of the school year with us!

This episode is brought to you by: LaPure Cosmetics | Go To https://lapurenaturals.com/TOD to get 40% OFF your First Order _________________________________ This week on Teachers Off Duty, Brian, Jess, and Leslie dive into one of the hottest (and most hilarious) debates in education right now: Should we ban cell phones in school? From brutal bathroom fights and TikTok trends to mental health and emergency safety concerns, the crew tackles it all, sprinkled with their signature chaos and comedy, of course. Leslie shares how Virginia’s new statewide ban is unfolding, Jess reflects on her own screen-time parenting struggles, and Brian confesses to being personally victimized by the comment section. Plus, they talk about kids turning teachers into memes, the dystopian rise of Life360, and the awkward silence that comes when everyone has to put their phones away—including the teacher. As the gang debates classroom control, digital addiction, and how to parent (or teach) through the noise, one thing becomes clear—there are no easy answers. But with a lot of empathy and a little humor, they explore how teachers can create healthier boundaries with tech while still preparing students for a digital world. Oh, and spoiler alert: stretchy jeans, nostalgic field trips, and Candy Crush all make a surprising appearance too. Whether you’re Team “Lock It in a Pouch” or “Let Them Listen to Music,” this episode is packed with laughs, reflection, and some real talk about tech, teaching, and the world our kids are growing up in. From frogs in desks to vodka in juice pouches—this is why teachers deserve hazard pay.

Classroom chaos hits a whole new level in this hilarious episode of Teachers Off Duty! Leslie Rob, Jess Smith, and Brian Moote swap jaw-dropping stories about the most unexpected things their students have brought to school—from live toads and portable Keurigs to Capri Sun-style vodka pouches and, yes... furry handcuffs disguised as gifts.

They also dive into tattoo street cred, awkward YouTube ads, school tour shenanigans, and what happens when a Great Dane nearly becomes a class pet. Plus, hear how one kid turned his desk into a secret frog habitat for four days.

From navigating awkward student gifts (looking at you, lingerie roses) to the all-too-relatable fear of accidentally projecting your camera roll during class, the crew keeps it real about the highs, lows, and absolute absurdities of teaching today. If you’ve ever wondered how a teacher survives a day with dignity intact after finding out their student has 20 snakes at home—or what happens when a middle schooler brings mini booze pouches to lunch—this one’s for you.

Whether you’re a teacher, parent, or just here for the laugh-cry moments, this episode proves once again: there’s no such thing as a normal day in education.

Hey all, I hope this finds you well! I appreciated this episode so much. I taught at a year-round, private school throughout the entire pandemic of March 2020 up until this past September. Our school board made the decision to stay open throughout the pandemic and serve children of first responders that were on the medical frontlines everyday. I taught Pre-k and while the kids were happy to be at school, it was a wild and stressful time. Listening to all of your stories was cathartic to hear since I definitely understood pandemic teaching. I hope all is well, stay safe and healthy! - whitney_barnett

It’s so awesome for you guys to speak out and tell all of the insane things that teachers have to deal with. I never would’ve known about these things before if it weren’t for you guys. This is my favorite podcast and I listen to it ALL the TIME! ♥️♥️♥️ love y’all so much

This is the 1st podcast I've ever listened to & I am NOT disappointed! I found Bree through Reels on Instagram & discovered she was a part of a podcast with other teachers. Although I am not a teacher,I have spent 20+ years in healthcare & the stories are so relatable. People are leaving healthcare for the same reasons they leave teaching..bad pay & bad treatment. Keep up the good work :)

I started off just listening on my commute to work (Massachusetts Middle School) and now catch myself listening in during my breaks and free time! Love these guys!

Love that they all have a little segments and I love how they all flow together so seamlessly. So fun to listen to while I am cleaning and cooking or when I am just trying to have a laugh.

So good !

I wish I would’ve known that admin won’t support me when I have a behavior problem. If I have a student who continues to act up after I’ve tried everything in my classroom, I go to our APs and try to get support. They turn back around and blame me saying that I don’t do enough. All they do is give a “stern talk” to the kids. There are no consequences and that’s so defeating as a teacher :( I love y’all’s energy by the way! :)
