Ever wonder what happens when teachers go off duty and take on their students' strangest snack combinations? In this chaotic (and stomach-turning) episode of Teachers Off Duty Podcast, Bri, Tyler, and Brandon dive headfirst into some of the most bizarre food pairings ever consumed in a classroom—goldfish and grape jelly, ketchup and yogurt, and even Vienna sausages that should’ve stayed in the can.

Between uncontrollable laughter, questionable life choices, and Tyler nearly tapping out, this episode is a full-on rollercoaster of tastebud terror. Will they survive? Will they regret everything? And most importantly—would YOU try these snacks?

But it’s not just about the snacks—this episode is packed with hilarious teacher moments, unfiltered reactions, and a deep dive into the wild world of student lunchroom experiments. From debates over mystery meats to discovering which food crimes are almost tolerable, the crew leaves no stone unturned (or snack untasted). Plus, stick around for some laugh-out-loud classroom stories, unexpected confessions, and the ultimate question—should some of these combos actually be on a menu?

In this hilarious and painfully relatable episode of Teachers Off Duty, Devin, Leslie, and Jess dive into all the unexpected, bizarre, and downright wild things they NEVER thought they’d do as teachers—but somehow did. From rationing paper like it's gold, hiding during fire drills, to bathroom duty patrols (because vapes are the new contraband), they cover it all.

They also talk about the strange realities of being younger than some parents, the emotional rollercoaster of classroom dynamics, and the constant battle between wanting to be the “cool teacher” and just surviving the school day. Oh, and yes, they discuss the great debate: rows vs. the U-shape desk arrangement—because, apparently, that's a thing.

Plus, find out which of them hides during fire drills, who had a secret career as a janitor, and why seating charts are the ultimate form of teacher survival.

Listen now and let us know in the comments: What’s one thing you never thought you’d do as a teacher… but did anyway?

Full pandemic teaching

Hey all, I hope this finds you well! I appreciated this episode so much. I taught at a year-round, private school throughout the entire pandemic of March 2020 up until this past September. Our school board made the decision to stay open throughout the pandemic and serve children of first responders that were on the medical frontlines everyday. I taught Pre-k and while the kids were happy to be at school, it was a wild and stressful time. Listening to all of your stories was cathartic to hear since I definitely understood pandemic teaching. I hope all is well, stay safe and healthy! - whitney_barnett

1st Podcast

This is the 1st podcast I've ever listened to & I am NOT disappointed! I found Bree through Reels on Instagram & discovered she was a part of a podcast with other teachers. Although I am not a teacher,I have spent 20+ years in healthcare & the stories are so relatable. People are leaving healthcare for the same reasons they leave teaching..bad pay & bad treatment. Keep up the good work :)

Everyday listener

I started off just listening on my commute to work (Massachusetts Middle School) and now catch myself listening in during my breaks and free time! Love these guys!

Love that they all have a little segments and I love how they all flow together so seamlessly. So fun to listen to while I am cleaning and cooking or when I am just trying to have a laugh.

Support

I wish I would’ve known that admin won’t support me when I have a behavior problem. If I have a student who continues to act up after I’ve tried everything in my classroom, I go to our APs and try to get support. They turn back around and blame me saying that I don’t do enough. All they do is give a “stern talk” to the kids. There are no consequences and that’s so defeating as a teacher :( I love y’all’s energy by the way! :)
