  • Summary

  • Smartphones and mainstream apps power a volunteer team racing against the clock to help Afghans leave the country before the Taliban takes over. For those left behind, those who opposed the Taliban, how do they stay safe? Because this Taliban regime is very different from the one that ruled 20 years ago. This one uses social media and biometric databases.

Everyone should listen to this

This series is eye opening. After listening to these podcasts I want to leave my phone on airplane mode.

When the internet first took hold I was dazzled how amazing that the world is in reach first through a computer and now on our phones. But there is a dark side to this technology and this series goes into the depths of how what one does online can be traced and used by malicious governments. Privacy is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Information can be manipulated and used to control the public. We are fortunate that we don’t live under a totalitarian government yet when truth becomes an opinion we are in danger of being led in that direction.
I highly recommend.this series if only to become more aware of the many ways your trusty phone should not be completely trusted.
