About this listen

The BHP is a chronological retelling of the history of Britain with a particular focus upon the lives of the people. You won’t find a dry recounting of dates and battles here, but instead you’ll learn about who these people were and how their desires, fears, and flaws shaped the scope of this island at the edge of the world. And some of those desires are downright scandalous.Copyright © 2011 The British History Podcast, Inc. All rights reserved. Education Social Sciences World

Forget conquering Gaul! Julius Caesar, fueled by ambition and fear of the mythical Oceanus, sets sail across uncharted waters to tame the wild warriors of Britain. My favorite podcast. Great facts, great performance, and the storytelling makes it easily digestible for a non-history buff.

Unbelievable factual storyteller.
Makes ancient history come alive with real 3 dimensional historical figures you won't forget.

Great writer and evev better narrator.

Jamie and Zee do an excellent job of bringing history to life, especially from a ground-level perspective of figuring out the social pressures shaping the societies discussed. A lot of time and effort clearly went into parsing sources and reading between the lines.

I also recommend the members feed. It's cheap and the amount of content is enormous at this point.

An excellent way to explore the forces of history

I’m not sure why an American is narrating this. It might be ok if he was good, but he’s not. So it’s very incongruous

Irritating narration
